It was already too late, Alex’s car had just begun to pull out of the drive way. Without any warning Alaura began to gasp for air. Her heart started pounding rapidly. Suddenly her vision began to blur. Alaura could hear her heart beating in her ears. She crawled away from the door and tried to make it up the stairs. But she was too weak to make it. She collapsed right onto the cold marble floor.
After Alexander left his house he headed over to Janeanne’s, however, this was no surprise. Not only was she Alaura’s best friend, but she was also Alexander’s mistress. They had been having an affair for nine months. When Alexander arrived at Janeanne’s he rang the door bell. He came right inside when she opened the door.
Janeanne took one look at him and just knew that he must have had a fight with Alaura. Janeanne knew she was betraying her best friend by sleeping with her husband, but what happened between them had nothing to do with Alaura. How she got together with Alexander was a total accident. “Alex, what are you doing here this late?” Janeanne asked. “I can’t stay there with her for another minute!” Alex complained.
“You don’t mean that! You and I both know that you love her!” She yelled. “I told her I wanted a divorce!” Alex shouted. “You can’t do that to her! It would break her heart not that it isn’t broken already!” She remarked. “I thought you would stand behind me on this?” Alex replied. “How can I be supportive of you when you’re trying to destroy my best friend’s life?” Janeanne replied. “Since when do you care about her feelings? You wouldn’t be sleeping with me if you really cared about her!” She said. “How dare you talk to me that way?” Janeanne replied angrily. Alex tried to put his arms around Janeanne, but she refused his embrace. When she turned to face him, she could see the lust in his eyes. “I want you to get out!” Janeanne shouted. Suddenly Alex took her into his arms once more.
“I know you don’t mean that!” Alex suddenly lowered his voice to a seductive whisper. With one kiss from his lips she suddenly became enthralled with passion. Janeanne was fortunate enough to only see the romantic and endearing side of Alexander. Alaura was the one who had to live with the cold and unaffectionate Alex. But Janeanne still felt guilty because he was showing her the passion and romance that his wife should rightfully be getting. Never once did he tell her why he cared so little about Alaura. He didn’t like talking about their marriage with anyone. Janeanne wondered if telling him that Alaura was dying would turn his cold heart around.
