The 53rd annual Grammy Awards are coming up this Sunday Feb. 13th at 8p.m. ET. While most are looking to see if their favorite Lady Gaga or Katy Perry will take home a Grammy, not so many are thinking about Lady Antebellum. Maybe you should be.
About Lady Antebellum
The group Lady Antebellum band members are Hillary, Dave, and Charles. The current album, “Need You Now” is Lady Antebellum’s second record and has been wildly successful. The album went triple platinum and spent 5 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Songs chart.
Lady Antebellum is no stranger to an award show. Lady Antebellum has already won two major Country Music Awards last year- Single of the Year (“I Run to You”) and Vocal Group of the Year. They also are already Grammy award winners, winning for Best Country Performance By a Duo or Group (“I Run to You”). Lady Antebellum also won five Academy of Country Music Awards a Country Music Television award.
Lady Antebellum’s Stellar 2010
Looks like 2010 shaped out to be pretty nice for Lady Antebellum, as they are poised to add even more awards to their shelves in 2011. Lady Antebellum is nominated for six Grammy awards in the following categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals, Best Country Song, and Best Country Album. While I’m not the most knowledgeable in Country music, it looks like Lady Antebellum doesn’t have much competition in the three Country categories. As for Album, Record and Song of the Year, now we have competition.
Lady Antebellum crossed over from Country into Top 40 charts and was splashed all over radio playlists for most of 2010. Even so, competition is rough when you face legends like Eminem, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Jay-Z. Not to say that Lady Antebellum isn’t worthy of winning these awards, only the Recording Academy can determine that, but it will be tough to beat out Eminem or Lady Gaga. My prediction is that Lady Antebellum will win the three Country categories they’re nominated in, but bow out gracefully for the others. Guess I’ll just have to turn in Sunday to find out!
UPDATE: Turns out my prediction was true, click here to read about Lady Antebellum’s wins.
