It may sound silly, but you can actually lose weight playing video games. Chasing your kids around or getting your boyfriend to put down the controller can sometimes seem impossible, but with Wii fit, you can now turn gaming time into workout time. Wii fit has so many different games and programs that you can use to start working out, and get back into shape. Plus, you can play the games with your family and friends, so it’s great motivation for you to lose weight. There are no gym fees, not commuting anywhere, just get fit and getting healthy. As a personal trainer, I work out on a daily basis, and have tried multiple different games for Wii fit. Here are my top three choices, so come on moms get going!
The Biggest Loser: For people who are new to working out, or love the popular television show, this is a great beginner game. This is especially nice if you don’t feel comfortable heading to the gym to be around a bunch of other people. The program was designed with cardio, yoga, aerobics, core, and strength training exercises, and also comes with recipes for your diet. You can plan your own workout calendar, and the game will keep track of your progress.
Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2010: This game is great for a people who have some experience working out and training, and are looking for an optimum workout program. Jillian is there to push you through all of your exercises, just like a personal trainer would at a gym. There are multiple different exercises for you to choose from, plus some with the balance board. This program can keep you busy for about 6-9 months, depending on how often you exercise.
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games: This one isn’t just for you, but it’s a good one for you to do with the kids. It will keep you busy for hours, and everyone will be having fun, while they’re getting fit. Some of the exercises are snowboarding and skiing. Working out doesn’t have to mean hours at the gym, it can be done with your favorite people by your side, and include a little friendly competition. The balance board and some other equipment pieces are required for this game.
Wii fit can be purchased anywhere gaming counsels are sold if your family doesn’t already have one, and there are many different games that are available. This will not only be a fun way to work out, but it’s also a way to lose weight, and live a healthier lifestyle. Just like any other weight loss program, healthy weight loss is achieved with a combination of exercise and dieting.
