Dreams Resort and Spas in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is the perfect location for a destination wedding. My husband and I said I do there and I wanted to share what made this location ideal.
What first attracted me to this resort is the physical beauty of the terrain. Surrounded by the Sierra Madre Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Puerto Vallarta offers a unique tropical landscape. This is especially true for Dreams Resort which boasts a private beach, flanked by the mountains. The private beach helped allay my fears of a topless spring breaker showing up in all my wedding photos. We had not only a beautiful beach setting for wedding photographs, but also a mountain background, something you don’t find with many beach locales. Some of my favorite wedding pictures are of my husband and I sitting on the rocks in our wedding attire.
Another great feature of a wedding at Dreams Puerto Vallarta is the wedding packages offered by the resort. There are three choices: Dreams Wedding in Paradise, Dreams of Love and Dreams Ultimate Wedding Package. We chose the Wedding in Paradise package, which is $899 but is complimentary when you book a junior suite for 7 nights. This package included everything we needed: the bride’s bouquet, a wedding cake, sparkling wine, music, a beautiful ceremony, a honeymoon package, and, best of all, the services of a wedding coordinator along with a few other extras. The main thing not included in this package, that you get in the other packages is photography. My best friend took our wedding photographs and we were more than pleased. With prices ranging from $2,099 to $2,799, the larger packages also include services such as hair and makeup for the bride, a wedding video, spa treatments and more.
One of my favorite parts of our wedding trip was the private dinner for two on the beach the night after the wedding. The hotel set up a beautiful oceanside private table and served us an amazing meal capped off with a flaming dessert. It was so romantic to toast a glass of sparkling wine while listening to the waves crash. We also enjoyed a champagne breakfast in bed the morning after the wedding, complete with a selection of fresh fruit. In addition to room service, the all-inclusive resort also features 6 restaurants.
For the bride that insists on perfection and total control, be prepared that things might not always go as planned, especially when getting married in a foreign country. There were a few glitches in our wedding. The cake was to be delivered right after the ceremony, while we were enjoying the toasts from the best man and maid of honor. But, somehow it was overlooked so they promised to bring it to our reception dinner later that evening. The cake never made it to dinner either. Not wanting us to miss out on having a wedding cake, the hotel staff had it delivered to our room the next day. So, my husband and I had a cake for 20 people all to ourselves! It gave us a special memory to laugh about.
Despite the heat and a few unexpected surprises, I would recommend anyone planning a destination wedding consider Dreams Resort in Puerto Vallarta.
