In the world we live in today there are many types of medicine that can help people recover from things like physical injuries, mental lapses, and stress on the body and mind. When people think of medicine they often think of doctor’s offices and hospitals. Many don’t realize that things like visiting a chiropractor or physical therapist could save hundreds or even thousands dollars worth of medical bills each year. The use of chiropractic care, which was once frowned upon by the majority of the nation, has become a popular form of alternative medicine. The term “alternative medicine” simply means that the medical care is not being performed in the usual doctor office setting that comes to mind when you think of medical care. There are hundreds of types of alternative medicine, or even thousands if you think of all the different types of home remedies that can be created. Chiropractic is the one type of alternative medicine that sticks out to me, although many other forms have been proven to be beneficial from everything to broken bones to severe burns.
When people think of chiropractic, the first thing that comes to mind is “back cracker”, which is a term referring to spinal adjustments that causes the back to make a popping sound. Although chiropractors devote a large amount of their attention to the spine, there are many other aspects of a chiropractor’s job. A chiropractor will routinely work on the neck and will adjust around the tailbone. This shows that not only do they adjust the spine, but everything the spine deals with (which is everything in the body). Chiropractic care has been known to cure everything from sinus problems to bed wetting problems in small children. Chiropractors also perform deep tissue massages which aids in the healing process of affected tissue. Another overlooked aspect of a chiropractors job is the social part. Chiropractors are highly educated in nutrition and wellness and constantly preach the importance of a nutrient filled diet and routine exercise. They are trying to make people understand that if they regularly get spinal adjustments and eat healthy foods while exercising they can live longer healthier lives. The problem is that most people wait until they are in pain to come see a chiropractor and that isn’t the right mindset. Pain is the last step in solving a problem. If you wait until there is pain in the back, it will take many sessions (maybe 2 times a week for several months) and that is where it gets expensive and time consuming. If you would visit a chiropractor regularly, maybe once every two weeks or three weeks, you would keep the spine properly adjusted and would notice far less pain and stress on the back. Plus, visiting a chiropractor regularly would eliminate the whole pain aspect. Not only would it save you money, but it would save you from having to experience that pain.
