Like the old John Conlee Song “Friday Night Blues”, many women still find their men plopped on the couch when all they want to do is go somewhere and dance the night away. Instead of insisting on time out of the house, consider that it is important to watch TV with your boyfriend. It can be considered quality bonding time together under the right circumstances. It can also be used to get to know him on much deeper level and he won’t even realize it’s happening. Use this time to find out his true feelings on matters that may have an affect on your future as a couple. Here’s how:
Watch Sports With Him
If your man is a sports fanatic, throw on a jersey from his favorite team and a tight pair of jeans to lounge beside him. Make some homemade dip and stock up on the junk food and his favorite beer. Do not even mention the calories and simply enjoy a pig-out day. Don’t worry about if you do not follow the sport, concentrate on that he’ll be grateful that you’re starting to realize that it’s important to watch TV with your boyfriend. To really impress him, research the sport beforehand so you actually know what’s going on. (Think about how impressed you would be if he made an effort to understand one of your passions.) You might even start getting into the game yourself and find a couple pastime that you never thought would happen. If nothing else works, concentrate on the athletic sexy men in uniform to keep up the appearance of looking interested.
Watch Guy Movies With Him
It will not kill you to suffer through the car chases, shootouts and scantily-clad women every once in awhile, just like you feel he wouldn’t die from a night of romantic and touching films. A man’s testosterone level is raised during these types of movies, simply due to all the manliness being displayed on the screen. Snuggle up under his arm and let him use the dialog scenes as a chance to make out with you in between all the action shots. Even if no deep talks ever come from these nights, some steamy moments will. What else do you need to know to convince you that it is just as important to watch TV with your boyfriend during the big fight specials on pay-per-view as it is when an old black and white classic romance comes on?
Watch Chick Flicks Together
The other side of the coin, chick flicks are an important part of dating as well. Even though guys complain, they do realize this fact. They get to see the true feminine side of being a woman and love to kiss away the sentimental tears that follow such a film. After watching some action flicks with him, he’ll be even more inclined to pop some popcorn, grab a bottle of wine and turn on a romantic comedy. You see, even though it may not be their favorite choice in entertainment, they will give into anything that turns their girlfriend on. Just be prepared to follow through with showing him how much it does. Another bonus to this is that men are already expecting to talk afterward about emotions and feelings. They come to the couch prepared for a long bonding night.
Watch Home Improvement Shows With Him
It’s already been established that it is important to watch TV with your boyfriend for the romantic rewards of the present. Turning on home improvement shows during a veg night can help with visions of the future. If your man is handy, the construction and building ideas should keep him interested in the programs and will often get him talking about ideas that he has for when he builds a house. This line of conversation can be skillfully turned into getting an idea about what he wants in terms of a family and marriage later down the line. The trick is to not push getting serious, just follow his cues. For example, if they are designing an awesome game room in the basement and he’s excited by the pool table, casually mention that you wished you had learned to play as a kid and want to teach your own someday. The hardest part comes next, leave it at that. Do not ask him about how he feels about kids; just plant the seed and wait for him to be ready to bring the talk to the next level.
Remember that it’s important to watch TV with your boyfriend the next time he wants to spend a lazy Saturday night at home. Use it as an opportunity for some quality bonding time that you would never get out amongst the crowds. Time alone together, even just spent snuggling on the couch, can be the best dates you’ll have.
