Yesterday we learned about two potentially devastating events for the human race: (1) A potential Bristol Palin run for President and (2) the possible destruction of Earth by a meteor. So naturally we wonder: Which will happen first?
Bristol Palin has reportedly advised E! Online of the likelihood that she will run for political office at some point in the future. While she did not say what office exactly she wants to run for, given her mother’s history as a Vice Presidential candidate, we have to assume Bristol is gunning for the presidency. Mother Sarah Palin was Governor of Alaska and a Vice Presidential candidate, so apparently Bristol sees know reason why she can’t do the same.
Meanwhile, Russian scientists say that a meteor named “99942 Apophis” will strike the Earth with a force equal to 65 atomic bombs on April 13, 2036. NASA says there’s only a 1 in 250,000 chance of the catastrophe occurring, but NASA says a lot of things. [Source: Winder, John G. “Is Apophis the apocalypse? So the question comes down to this: Which comes first – Bristol Palin’s Presidential campaign or April 13, 2036 (aka, meteor doomsday)?
As I recall from the Constitution, you have to be at least 35 years old to run for President. And as I happen to know, Bristol is 20. That means Bristol Palin can run for President as early as 15 years from now (aka, 2026)! But hold on a minute. Who ever heard of a 35-year-old President? She probably won’t run until she is at least 45 years old. And when will she be 45? On April 13, 2036 (which will, in fact, be in a Presidential election year), when 99942 Apophis pummels our planet.
So, if all of the extremely speculative events described above occur, the world could end during Bristol Palin’s run for the Presidency. Wow. Is that really how the human race wants to go out?
