If they are having trouble deciding, then perhaps you can set up some tours for them to get a first hand look at a variety of jobs they can do without a college degree. There are plenty of companies which offer hands on training for students as soon as they graduate from high school. Since you are the one who has been educating your child, you know them best. Since the time they started home schooling, you probably know there strong points, and weak ones. Why not try to guide them to a field where they will be able to use some of their best skills. Look for opportunities where your child would be able to gain some experience, and possible free training.

These types of programs allow children to explore several different fields within one year. Courses like the exploratory programs allow children to experience a different course each semester. Some students are able to start these programs when they are in the tenth grade. This will enable them to gain several years of experience before they even finish their high school education. There are many companies which have paid, and unpaid internship programs for high school students. Teach your child how to approach companies themselves and inquire about these types of programs. There are many companies that enjoy training, and working with homeschooled children. One of the benefits is that their work hours are flexible since they are homeschooled.
