When I went to McDonald’s for lunch today, I saw a sign for $1 Big Macs today only from 4-9 p.m., limit 10 per customer. They are normally about $3.50 per sandwich. Sorry friends from outside my local area, but the sign said it was only at Jerry Lewis’ McDonald’s, although you can always check with your local McDonald’s just in case.
As far as I could tell online, Jerry Lewis owns McDonald’s restaurants in the following locations: Ada, Beaverdam, Bluffton, Carey, Delphos, Hicksville, Lima (7), Ottowa, Upper Sandusky, and Van Wert.
I was conflicted about sharing this promotion, because I didn’t want to endorse bad eating habits and contribute to the obesity epidemic, but what the heck? You can’t make people eat better, but you can help them save money while eating what they would normally eat anyway. Personally, I almost never eat at McDonald’s anymore, so a Big Mac for me would be a rare treat (if you can even call it that). Since I already had a McChicken for lunch, I’m debating whether I want more McDonald’s for dinner (I can almost hear my arteries clogging). We’ll see what I feel like on my way home from work.
If you can’t get this deal where you are, here’s a tip: You can order a $1 McDouble and ask for it “dressed like a Mac.” Where I am, they usually charge an extra $0.25 to do this. I think it has Big Mac sauce, onions, pickles and lettuce. You won’t have the same kind of bun or that center bun, but it’s way cheaper, and really, who needs a sandwich that big anyway? I used to work at McDonald’s in college, so I know there is actually a “Dress like Mac” button on the screen. If you try to get around this by adding everything separately for free, the person taking your order will likely just hit the button and charge you.
Another tip: Add a $1 chicken patty to a $1 side salad and get a smaller, cheaper salad with chicken on it. You won’t get all the fancy toppings, but it will be less than half as much. I also like to order the McChicken with only extra lettuce, pickles and mustard, but they never get it right. They just put two pickles, a bit of lettuce and a drop of mustard. I know there are “Add” and “Extra” buttons, but they never hit “Extra.” From now on, I’m going to have to tell them specifically to hit the “Extra” button. I want lettuce, pickles and mustard on every bite…is that too much to ask? (Sorry, I got a little carried away there). Anyway, if you like Big Macs and live near a participating restaurant, I hope you can take advantage of this deal. And if you don’t live near a participating McDonald’s, I apologize for getting your hopes up. :)
