A numinous rain of thousands of dead birds falling from the sky in Arkansas. Massive schools of dead fish found floating in a California marina. An earthquake with a 7.0 magnitude that rocked the already improvised country of Haiti. March 11, 2011 came one of the most horrendous and vicious earthquakes ever recorded in Japans history causing an equally frightful and damaging tsunami. Buildings and homes literally shredded to pieces. Cars and boats swept into a devastating sea of muddy waves. The reality of such tragedies is enough to make anyone stop and wonder what is going on. Could all these horrific phenomenon’s be a sign of a spiritual nature? Anyone who is familiar with the religion of Christianity should be aware that the bible does speak of signs that could be interpreted as signals that the “son of man” will soon be returning to earth.
Luke 21: verses 25-28
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
Scholars and scientists, always seem to have a theory or some type of justifiable hypothesis to sway people into believing that these kind of happenings are natural or normal occurrences. Should we believe the files and charts they provide, proving their scientific evidence to be true? How can we be sure? Is it too much for us to imagine that our fate is already determined and that our lives and the world as we know it, is going to perish? Is now the time to repent and ask for forgiveness of our sins? How do we know that God is not actually trying to tell those of us who believe that we should make preparations for the days to come? Whether you’re are believer or non-believer the second coming of Christ is going to affect all of our lives. In the “new living translation bible” II Peter 3:10 – But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.
Maybe we’re not experiencing signs from above, maybe the recent happenings are in fact an act of nature. It is up to each individual to believe what ever they choose. On the contrary, if you do admonish what has happened as a sign of being close to our day of reckoning, seems it would be wise to consider the straight and narrow. A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
