If you’re one of the lucky college or graduate students going on spring break this year, read on. For one week, you will escape the winter misery that plagues most of the U.S. and go someplace either more warm or more fun.
But no matter where you’re going, you’ll need to bring the right items with you. No matter where you’re going, a phone charger and your toothpaste, but other items aren’t so obvious. Read on to discover what you shouldn’t leave at home depending on your spring break destination.
Beach Vacation
Congratulations on booking the ultimate in spring break vacations! Make sure you bring sun care items, such as sunscreen. If you plan on getting a natural tan, at least bring large, stylish sunglasses and a flirty hat to protect your scalp. Ditch your sweater-safe bras for cute, brightly colored ones that look good if they peek out. Bring a water bottle so you can stay hydrated between drinks and volleyball games, but don’t bring one that you’ll miss if you lose it. You should bring a cute pair of jeans and a light sweater for colder nights, and gently roll any pretty dresses you have in tissue paper to prevent them from creasing. Before you leave, toss in a bottle of ibuprofen into your suitcase in case you end up with a wicked hangover.
Mountain Hike
You’ll really need that water bottle on this trip! A simple first aid kit is a must in case you get into an accident. Your camera will take great pictures of stellar mountain views and wildlife. Stash an emergency flare in case something goes wrong, and don’t forget to bring a fully-charged cell phone at the start of your trip and keep it off so you don’t lose battery power so quickly.
Going Home
Spring break isn’t so glamorous at home, but at least it doesn’t involve homework. If you’re en route to the ‘rents, don’t forget to bring your favorite technologies and a good book. If you can, leave behind most of your clothes in favor of stuff you’ve left at home. Take your favorite pillow with you and a few snacks if your parents are into health food. Before you go home, look up a few fun things to do with your friends. You can pretend you’re a tourist in your old town and have them show you around, or you can head out and see the new stores and attractions in the area.
