Weight Loss with the Atkins Diet Plan

by tree pony

The Atkins Diet Plan has been around for decades, and is thought by many to be the ideal way to lose weight. However, others feel weight loss with The Atkins Diet Plan is dangerous and this diet should not be followed.

To learn whether The Atkins Diet Plan will help a person lose weight, one might want to consider both sides of the discussion. Those who have used Atkins products to lose weight, or followed the Atkins menu to lose weight will tell you they eliminated carbohydrates. This means eating as few carbs as possible in the beginning of the plan. As time goes on and weight loss occurs, dieters may add some healthy carbs, such as vegetable salads and certain breads.

The concern about weight loss using the Atkins menu is that the body might lose muscle tissue if weight is lost quickly. Also, there is a concern that the body can’t function without the healthy carbs, which are converted to glucose. According information on LiveScience.com,–

“The brain, which accounts for 2 percent of our body weight, sucks down roughly
20 percent of our daily calories. A picky eater, it demands a constant supply of glucose –
primarily obtained from recently eaten carbohydrates (fruits, vegetables, grains etc.)”

Many claim to use a form of The Atkins Diet Plan to keep the weight off once they have had their initial weight loss. Others claim the plan did not work for them as they were not able to continue avoiding carbohydrates for various reasons.Dr. Robert Atkins made this diet popular following his own weight loss experience following the plan.
