The playoffs are fast approaching and many a team is in the hunt this year. Each week I will pick 4 locks for the week which are the ones I feel the strongest about. I will also pick 1-3 potential upset candidates each week. By Upset I mean winning team facing a losing team based on the record. I will pick a winner for each NFL team each week even if it will be close to call.
Chicago over Minnesota
The Bears are still reeling from last week’s disaster of a game with the Patriots. They are the real deal though just had a bad game. More importantly the Vikings prospects this week are pretty grim especially since Old Man Brett probably can’t go and 2nd String Tarvaris Jackson is now on IR. They will be trotting out Rookie Joe Webb most likely this week. Brian Urlacher and company are licking their chops this week.
New England over Green Bay
No way Aaron Rodgers plays this week after his 2nd concussion this season especially with how cautious the NFL is on head trauma now. So Matt Flynn will start and might do okay but no way he can just fill in where Aaron Rodgers left off. This offense is a spread attack very complicated he will struggle most likely. New England is hitting full stride now, their offense is a dink and dunk nightmare, they will get the lead early and blitz the rest of the way.
Dallas over Washington
Both teams have really disappointed this year. But the Redskins started good and have fallen off a cliff recently. On the other hand Dallas with new Head Coach former offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is playing good football, reducing penalties and executing. Jason is trying seal the deal as a head coach so he will not let up. Washington can’t throw the ball. Both teams will try to run as much as possible but Dallas in this case funny enough has the better passing offense with Jon Kitna of all people at the helm. For that reason Dallas wins.
Atlanta over Seattle
Matt Ryan and Michael Turner are the perfect offensive balance a great run/pass threat. They have had a number of close games this year but Mr. Clutch Ryan has come through most of the time. They are playing inspired ball nowadays even their defense has started to pick it up. Matt Hasselbeck is dreaming of the 07-08 season. This team doesn’t have any identity and injuries to its wide receiver corps have really hurt. I highly doubt they find a way to win against a potential Super Bowl team this Sunday.
Detroit over Tampa Bay
This is more a gut feeling than anything but the Lions are in each game and the Buccaneers have been barely eking out their wins recently. I think Stanton, Suh, Best, and Johnson put together a surprising win in Tampa.
St. Louis over the Kansas City
I know St. Louis is leading their division but they are only 6-7 the Chiefs are 8-5. Not sure if Matt Cassell plays Sunday even if he does they still might not win. The Rams are a respectable team this year. Sam Bradford has been pretty accurate for a rookie QB and he has 17/12 TD to Int. Plus they are playing in ST. Louis.
New Orleans over Baltimore – Baltimore’s offense will not be able to keep up.
Panthers over Arizona – Panthers good against the pass and Carolina running well as of late. Jonathan Stewart and Mike Goodson will run all over Arizona and control time of possession and get a rare win.
Cleveland over Cincinnati – The Bengals have disappointed all year and I don’t think they will let up. The browns have played teams really close just bad play-calling is really what hurts them but Peyton Hillis is a great player especially if Colt McCoy plays they win.
Indianapolis over Jacksonville – This will be a good game. I would love to root for Jags here but Peyton has found his groove back and I think they will pull out the win.
Buffalo over Miami – Miami has not been good at home and I just figure the Bills will win one sometime this could be it. The Dolphins offense is in disarray.
Philadelphia over New York Giants – Vick is playing smart football. The eagles can beat you in so many different wins. Eli has been in a real funk recently even in wins he has been throwing picks like crazy.
Tennessee over Houston – Because Britt is back and Kerry Collins is QB that is why I am picking Tennessee. Collins to Britt all day Houston seems to lose games by starting slow and not finishing.
Oakland over Denver– Denver was bad with McDaniel’s now they are horrendous. You have to go with a surprisingly tough Raiders team. They will run all over the donkeys.
Pittsburgh over New York Jets – Big Ben will get it done when it counts and even if Troy sits Mark Sanchez is not a good QB.
That’s all I got.
