The Baltimore Ravens look to cement their status as an AFC playoff contender as they take on the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football. The Texans are on life support, and the Ravens would love to cut off their last circulation.
The early spread on this game is Ravens (-3). Here are eight of the key aspects and what to watch out for when betting. All stats are from NFL.com unless otherwise noted. Lines from Cooper’s Picks.
The Houston Texans have had three more days to prepare for this intraconference match-up as the Texans played on Thursday Night football last week.
#2: Houston Texans Defense
The Texans have surrendered 24 or more points in eleven of twelve games this season. The only game they didn’t was a shutout against a Rusty Smith led Titans offense that hadn’t scored an offensive touchdown in over three games.
#3 Houston Texans Struggles
The Houston Texans are 1-5 since the bye. Their only victory came against the Tennessee Titans in the midst of a five game losing streak.
#4: Baltimore Ravens after losses
The Ravens are 3-0 following a loss this season. They haven’t lost consecutive games since Week 4-6 of the 2009 season.
The Houston Texans injury list could nearly field an offensive and defensive side. They have eleven players on the injured reserve and five more questionable for Monday Night. Mario Williams and Bernard Pollard are two of the questionable players.
The Ravens big losses could be Todd Heap and Le’Ron McClain. They’re both questionable for the game. It’s still nothing compared to the Texans injury list (or the whole AFC South, for that matter).
The Texans appear to be a lock at giving up 24 or more points per game. With that in mind, the Texans probably need a minimum of 25 points against the Ravens defense to have a good opportunity for victory.
I’m not seeing that. Home field hasn’t meant much for the Texans this season, and the Ravens should be amp’ed up for a prime-time game. Not sure why this was a prime-time game to begin with, but whatever. Ravens with a 27-17 victory here.
