Most people have heard about those who “sing for their supper” and dinner theaters, but what about singing with your ice cream? Intrigued?
It is an innovative concept that works well at “The Music Man Singing Ice Cream Shoppe” in Lavallette, New Jersey; the only place in town where those with a hankering for a hot fudge sundae and a harmonious sound can satisfy both yens in one place.
What follows is a brief description of this singular, New Jersey sensation and what those who visit can expect.
Ice cream and toppings galore is exactly what you will find on “The Music Man Singing Ice Cream Shoppe’s” menu.
All are reasonably priced, including the tremendous sundaes that tend to average $7 to $9, exclusive of gratuity. The price of one’s treat is inclusive of the floor show.
With the décor a fusion of traditional ice cream parlor and barbershop quartet, “The Music Man Singing Ice Cream Shoppe” is very much an audience participation type of venue.
Though multi-talented, costumed servers do the majority of the “vaudeville meets cabaret” style entertaining, the audience is pulled into the act as well.
Diners, who are asked “What would you do for an ice cream?” ,better be prepared to deliver on whatever they say, whether it be a scream, a song or a shake of one’s behind.
Oh and do not drop a spoon unless you are prepared to receive a salvo of silverware and song, which will surely ensue.
