Like many celebrities (including Ellen DeGeneres and Mark Zuckerberg), actress Uma Thurman has had to deal with a stalker. The man was convicted in 2008, but now he is on trial for allegedly violating the terms of his parole – and he wants a plea deal.
It has already been a big year for stories about stalkers. This month, Ellen DeGeneres’ security force found her alleged stalker hiding under cushions on her deck; in addition to DeGeneres, the woman is reportedly obsessed with Hillary Clinton and Dolph Lundgren. Even non-Hollywood celebrities are being stalked. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg recently obtained a restraining order to protect him and his girlfriend from a man who was contacting him at numerous addresses. [Source: Sanburn, Josh. While those stalking cases are ongoing, though, actress Uma Thurman thought she had solved her stalking problem. Her stalker was convicted in 2008, and Thurman had a restraining order against him. But the man, 39-year-old Jack Jordan, allegedly violated Thurman’s restraining order against him last fall by calling her at two different numbers. As a result, Jordan is now held on bail of $500,000, and his attorney is trying to work out a plea deal to avoid a trial that could result in as much as four years imprisonment. There is no indication yet whether prosecutors are amenable to a plea agreement with Uma Thurman’s stalker. The fact that the man was previously convicted and has allegedly violated his parole might make a plea deal less likely, but only time will tell.
