Trader Joe’s Charmingly Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies Review

by tree pony

I stopped by a Trader Joe’s one day after work to pick up a few items. And when I was in the frozen foods aisle I happened to notice a shelf with cookies above one of the freezers. There was a box called Charmingly Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies that caught my attention.

I picked it up and read the claims on the box that said the cookies are moist and chewy and are really good because they’re made with all natural ingredients. I love chewy cookies and normally the ones sold in groceries are hard & dry so I bought a box.

Taste of
Trader Joe’s Charmingly Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

These cookies are around the size of a Chips Ahoy cookie. When I tried the first one I really liked it. It was overall a bit sweeter than what I prefer from a chocolate chip cookie, but the texture was great. It was firm around the edges but once I began to chew the center, it was softer like half baked cookie dough. It had a slightly chalky aftertaste but overall I really enjoyed them so much that I went through a box in one day.

A few days later I bought another box. I’m not sure if they were an old box, or just a bad batch. But these cookies were awful. The soft texture was the same but the flavor was different. These cookies were gross. They had a really bad artificial taste, and they had an extremely dry, chalky, flour-like aftertaste that was awful.

In the End..

I don’t know if the first box of the Trader Joe Charmingly Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies were all that great in the first place, but the second box was so nasty that I never want to eat them again. And even though they’re supposed to be all natural they really doesn’t taste natural, and that chalky aftertaste is the worst. I give them 3 out 5 stars only because I could’ve had a stale box, but I will never buy them again.
