The Sardine Factory
One of the top piano bars in the Monterey/Carmel area is located in the world-famous Sardine Factory restaurant, 701 Wave Street, Monterey, CA 93940. Opened on October 2, 1968, The Sardine Factory’s fine-dining reputation has attracted world leaders and entertainment celebrities to its Cannery Row location. The Lounge features a top piano bar. David Conley plays familiar party songs Tuesday through Saturday nights from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Conley has been a professional musician since the age of 17. He has played in numerous bands, opening for various acts such as Steppenwolf, Black Oak Arkansas and Rick Derringer. David takes and plays requests from Led Zeppelin to Elvis Presley to the Everly Brothers.
Mission Ranch
Another top piano bar is the Mission Ranch, 26270 Dolores Street, Carmel, CA 93923. It’s often rowdy but always lots of fun. It’s popular with locals and regulars who love to take their turns singing. Some are very good and others are…well, you get the picture. Owner Clint Eastwood and his wife, Dina, often dine at the Ranch when they’re in town.
Russian pianist, Gennady Loktionov, plays the piano from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Gennady’s Jazz Duo plays during brunch from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. A classically trained musician, Loktionov arranged the music for Eastwood’s films Mystic River and Million Dollar Baby. Carmel-by-the-sea, CA 93921, has a top piano bar on the weekends. It’s located in the inn’s comfortable lobby living room where patrons and their pets are welcome to listen to the music. On Fridays from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. vocalist Debbie Davis is accompanied on the piano by Gennady Loktionov, one of the nights he’s not playing at the Mission Ranch. On Saturdays from 6:30 P.M. TO 10:00 P.M. Dick Whittington plays jazz piano, and on Sundays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Richard Devinck provides classical guitar entertainment.
