There are many great Simpsons characters. Some we see more than others, but all of them do their part to make Springfield what it is. Here is my top five list:
1. Homer Simpson
How can he not be the number one. Homer is a stereotypical lazy, not so smart, but still very family oriented person. He is the head of the family and has been through many great jobs. Homer has held over 188 different jobs in the first 400 episodes. Many of these jobs he proved to be rather unsuccessful at such as the mascot for a bit league baseball team. Homer has also come up with many entertaining quotes such as “Son, if you really want something in this life, you have to work for it. Now quiet! They’re about to announce the lottery numbers.” Homer is a very contradicting person and always thinks he is right. This mixed with his often low level of intelligence causes many problems for him and his family.
2. Krusty the Clown
Krusty is not in very episode of the Simpsons, but he does take a lead role in many of them. Krusty is to say the least a very bad clown. His jokes are rather pathetic or non-existent. In his spare time he enjoys smoking and drinking. Also this clown doesn’t care for kids very much. He owns his on show on television which includes a few other funny characters including, Mr. Teeny his cigar smoking monkey, and Itchy and Scratchy a cat in mouse that enjoy trying to blow each other up. One great Krusty clip comes from the Simpsons Movie. Krusty is making a new commercial for a sandwich at his restaurant the Krusty Burger. After shooting him enjoying the burger he throws it up all over and leaves.
3. Bart Simpson
Bart plays the role of Homer Simpson’s trouble child. Bart is a slow learner and enjoys pulling pranks on people, especially his principal. Bart often has trouble in school and resorts to things such as cheating. He once cheated on a test that got him transferred to an advanced student school. Bart is friends with Milhouse who is a stereotypical nerd. Bart enjoys hanging out with him, but often takes advantage of him as well. Bart has multiple famous lines, his most used being “eat my shorts.”
4. Sideshow Bob
Sideshow Bob is a personal favorite of mind because of his miserable luck. Sideshow Bob was always a rival of Krusty the Clown. This led to them being long time enemies that almost led to the death of Krusty in one episode. Sideshow Bob is also Bart’s stalker. It is Sideshow Bobs goal to kill Bart. He finally gets his chance to kill him in his room, but can’t do it because he has “grown accustomed to his face.” Sideshow Bob may look to be an evil killer, but he does have a soft spot.
5. Comic Book Guy
A complete and total nerd that owns a comic book store that Bart and Milhouse often show up at. The Comic Book Guy is a nerd when it comes to every single thing from Star Wars to Batman and Robin to Star Trek. He is not often shown in the episodes of the Simpsons, but when he does he always provides some laughs. One of the episodes he takes a lead role in he hooks up with Principal Skinner’s mother who is rather old. The relationship does not work out in the end though sadly.
There are many great characters not listed here. There are hundreds of characters including many guest such as comedian Ray Ramono, skater Tony Hawk, and the Blink 182.
