Too Faced Cosmetics. I had never heard of them until I stumbled across them in an email I received in one of those never-ending “commercials” that you get. Me, being the makeup junkie that I am, couldn’t resist taking a peak at their website and that was all it took.
I have tried several of their products so far, but I will start with the foundation. The first thing that grabbed me was the bottle. Yes, you read that correctly, it was the bottle. It is this quaint, old fashioned design that brings to mind the glamour of early Hollywood. It is totally feminine and looks great sitting on any vanity.
I did some research on the product before trying it. It contains vitamins and other things that are good for your skin and is noncomodogenic and oil free. A big plus for me, because I have combination, sensitive skin with larger pores on my nose, chin and forehead. I did not buy the foundation online, however, because I wanted to get as close a match to my skin as possible, so I went to the closest Ulta store and had one of the sales associates give me a hand.
The foundation that I ended up purchasing is called Perfect Nude and it was a pretty good match. My skin has a ruddy tone to it, and Too Faced foundations tend to have a yellow tint to them, so they work well for me. For those of you who already have some yellow undertones in your skin, it probably wouldn’t be a good choice for you, but the yellow cancelled out the red and I get a flawless look. The liquid foundation is thicker than what I expected. I apply it with a sponge and simply dot it over my face until I get everything covered. A little goes a long way and less is definitely more with this product. Right after I apply it, it seems to sit on top of my skin and doesn’t look right, but after a few minutes, I think that the heat of my skin does something and it seems to settle right into my skin and looks absolutely beautiful. It covers really well with just one application, but doesn’t feel heavy or cakey. The color stayed true throughout the day with a semi-matte finish, and didn’t turn orangey as many fair foundations can do as the day wears on. I was very impressed with the lasting power of this liquid foundation.
It did not sit in my fine lines around my eyes and it did not sit in the pores, which I have a problem with many liquid foundations doing, so I was happy with that. The color looks natural on me and likes I stated before, I just love the girly little bottle.
This foundation is priced at $38.00 so is not the drugstore cheap stuff that I usually buy. But like I said, a very little goes a long way. It may not be for everyone, but I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars.
I have tried their bronzer, eye shadow, powder, and face primer, too, and will let you know soon how I like those products.
You can find the products online at www.toofaced.com or at any Ulta salon.
