It’s a battle that women have been struggling with for ages. Whenever we buy a new purse, or anything new for that matter, we often promise ourself that this time we’re going to keep it nice and looking just as it did the first day we had it. Most of the time, this never happens. It’s super easy to drop something in your purse (like makeup) and come back later and realized that it’s been smashed and ruined the lining of your purse. If you are thinking of buying a new purse, or recently bought a new purse, follow these tips to make sure that this time it does stay as nice as possible.
Organize
Try to find spots in your purse that you can put certain items. For example, put all your credit cards in your wallet, find a spot for your keys, stash away your makeup in containers that won’t open or break, etc. If your purse doesn’t have many compartments, you can buy a purse organizer at Target and many other stores.
Invest in a Cleaning Product
If you have a leather purse, buy something that will help clean leather. If you own a suede purse, a silk purse, whatever the material is, try to invest in a product cleaner specifically for the material of your purse. It’s best to have one with you or in the house so if there’s ever an accident, you can get out any stains immediately.
Pay Attention to its Contents
You should always be careful as to what you are putting in your purse. It’s a lot easier if you have a bigger purse to put a Gatorade or something in it if you’re on the run. Stay away from putting anything that can spill in your purse! Some of the things you should avoid are makeup, hand sanitizer, drinks, and other liquids. If you must keep it with you, try to find a container to put it in just to be safe.
Be Careful of Its Surroundings
If you’re not using your purse, make sure that it is in a protective covering of some sort. If your purse did not come with a dust bag, you can find one that’s not too expensive online. If you are at a restaurant, make sure that you do not put it on the floor. If you are out a lot, invest in a purse hook. If you don’t know what it is, it’s a hook that you place on the edge of tables that will hold your purse, even if it’s super heavy (and it won’t damage the table). Also, try to keep your purse away from messy places where it could easily get stained.
If you’re looking to buy a purse, make sure it’s not bigger than it needs to be so you won’t have to worry as much about damaging it. While keeping these tips in mind and being careful, your current or next purse will last much longer, as well as being much better organized.
