As a child one of the most loved Christmas movies in my house was “A Christmas Story.” Looking to relive a childhood favorite movie? If you are a Christmas movie enthusiast or have good memories of watching “A Christmas Story” try hosting your Christmas Party around the movie. Throwing a party requires excellent organizational skills. If not properly planned the party will be a flop but a well-planned party can go off without so much as a glitch.
Here is how to throw “A Christmas Story”-themed party. Begin by choosing a date. Ask around to a few of your closest friends if they have anything going on the week before Christmas. Of course, you want your best friends there to keep the festivities going. You also want to check the weather. No one wants to come to a party where they have to battle the weather just to get to your house.
Once you have settled on a date, begin by getting invitations out. If you choose to make your own invitations purchase them now so you have time to fill them out and get them in the mail. If you decided to get them made be sure to order them now and have them shipped as soon as possible, since Christmas is only two weeks away. Personally, I like to use www.evite.com. It’s a quick and simple way to get the word out about your party. Evite makes it easy for your guests to RSVP
Now is the time to begin decorating your house for “A Christmas Story”-themed Christmas party. Finding décor for a themed party can be overwhelming but I have a solution for you. Your one stop shop for “A Christmas Story” decorations is www.amazon.com. They have every thing from the movie’s action figures to posters and even a clock with “the leg lamp” on it. Speaking of the “leg lamp”, order a few of those, from Amazon, as well. Adults enjoy reliving their childhood so go all out when decorating.
Test your memory of “A Christmas Story.” Games are usually a party hit. People enjoy having organized fun. On Amazon, you can purchase some fun games. The first game that caught my eye was “A Christmas Story” The Party Game. The second game I saw was “A Christmas Story” Board Game. They are both available on Amazon.
Last but not least would be the costumes. My idea is to create a costume party and require that all of your guests dress as someone or something from “A Christmas Story.” Costumes are a great way to liven up any party and bring laughs to all of your guests. I went online and typed “A Christmas Story” costumes. Several ideas with pictures came up as a result of my search. You and your guests can be anything from Ralphie to the infamous leg lamp. Have fun and get creative. I even saw a picture of a couple; the man was the box that says fragile and his female counterpart was the leg lamp.
Don’t forget this party is supposed to be fun for your guest but also non-stressful for you. So, hire a maid service so that you don’t have to work hard after the party. You already worked hard enough planning, preparing and decorating. Let someone else do all the dirty work and indulge in some cleaning help. Most of all have fun and relax. Let the movie speak for itself through the costumes and themed decorations.
