The need exists to get highly talented women into the board rooms of Canada. Corporate Board Governance and Director Compensation in Canada: A Review of 2009, stated that only 9% of the top 300 leading companies have women executives on their board of directors and 49% of leading Canadian Companies do not have any female representation at all.
The United States fairs slightly better than Canada with women executives on national corporate boards, There are 15% of women in these high executive levels on boards globally and at least 66% of individual boards have female representation. Still more women most be represented on boards in America as well. Women’s views count, and we as women must see to it that it does.
Note: Women on Board is not an exclusive Women’s group, there are many male mentors who see the need for more female representation on corporate boards across Canada.
