2011 is finally here, and it looks like this year might be a huge year at the box-office! I’ve put together a list of some of the most anticipated movies for this year.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1: (November 18, 2011)
With the success of ‘Eclipse’, the Twilight fans are in for a surprise with the next installment of the hit flick. Luckily, for the Twilight lovers, in November of 2010 fans went crazy when Summit Entertainment released more details for the upcoming film, saying, “In the highly anticipated next chapter of the blockbuster The Twilight Saga, the newfound married bliss of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) is cut short when a series of betrayals and misfortunes threatens to destroy their world. After their wedding, Bella and Edward travel to Rio de Janeiro for their honeymoon, where they finally give in to their passions. Bella soon discovers she is pregnant, and during a nearly fatal childbirth, Edward finally fulfills her wish to become immortal. But the arrival of their remarkable daughter, Renesmee, sets in motion a perilous chain of events that pits the Cullens and their allies against the Volturi, the fearsome council of vampire leaders, setting the stage for an all-out battle. The Hangover II: (May 26, 2011)
Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms are back for the sequel of the highly successful’The Hangover’. Although the first installment was panned by critics (The New York Daily News said it will leave you with a headache), it became an instant success once it came out on DVD. Here’s the synopsis of the upcoming movie, ” In the follow-up to the record-breaking hit comedy “The Hangover,” Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha) travel to exotic Thailand for Stu’s wedding. After the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch. However, things don’t always go as planned. What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can’t even be imagined. “
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol: (December 16, 2011)
Many were shocked to hear the Tom Cruise reprised his role in ‘Mission Impossible’ as Ethan Hunt. As of now, very little has been revealed but there have been a few pictures and video taken by the paparazzi of Tom Cruise in Dubai shooting scenes for the movie. As of now, the release date for the
Transformers: Dark of the Moon: (July 1, 2011)
When it was announced that Megan Fox wouldn’t be in this installment of the movie, many people said they refused to watch it. The movie’s director, Michael Bay, promises that this installment of the movie will be much better than any of the previous movies, he said, “We tried to learn from the second movie. On the second movie we got burned. We had a writers strike, we had to agree on a story in three weeks, and then we knew they were going on strike. It was a fucked scenario all the way around, it wasn’t fair to the writer, it wasn’t fair to me, it wasn’t fair to anybody. It was still an entertaining movie, but I think we failed on certain aspects. What we did with this movie is I think we have a much better script, and we got back to basics. I think there’s some really cool action on this movie, there’s some very cool conspiracy, there’s great robot stuff in this that people were missing in the second one, you’ve got great robot conflict. So I’m excited about this movie. It’s more serious. I got rid of the dorky comedy, I mean we’ve got two little characters, that’s it, but the dorkiness is not there. Dork-free Transformers. It’s much more serious. It’s still entertaining, it’s big looking.”
Scream 4: (April 15, 2011)
How can I mention most anticipated movies of 2011 without talking about ‘Scream 4’? It has been almost 11 years since the last ‘Scream’ installment was in the movie theaters, so it should be interesting to see if ‘Scream 4’ will stall or become a huge hit at the box office, this time around. For Scream 4, all of our favorite characters return, Sidney Presscott (Neve Campbell), Dewey Riley (David Arquette), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), along with new characters like Emma Roberts who will play Sidney’s cousin and Hayden Panettiere. Although the date has changed before, ‘Scream 4’ is scheduled to be released on April 15th, 2011.
