She’s just a girl and I’m just a boy who likes girls so: a match made in Heaven. Right? I’ve never been able to sing and Gwen Stefani along with her band No Doubt were not really considered masters in the vocal arts, but they were something different at the right time and became mega popular. Gwen, the lead singer, was not a poster girl in terms of model looks if going off of figure alone. She had to sing a song to clarify that she was a girl; yes, I am referring to her less than ample bosom. But she defied the odds and became a sex symbol regardless!
There is no getting around that Gwen Stefani has a gorgeous face. She is the ideal California blond, but the first music video I ever saw of her ranting about just being a girl, did not truly bring the message across that she was a sexy girl. I dug the music, looking back I’m not sure why because it is an earful of turd, but it took a couple of music videos for her to become real attraction worthy. I mean there’s so many women for a young man to admire, you’ve really got to touch the right nerve.
It was the music video for “Don’t Speak” that suckered me in and had me wanting Gwen Stefani’s to be my girl. It showed a softer side to her as she walked around barefoot in a dress singing a song that reminded me somewhat of Madonna’s slower stuff. Gone was all of the overly ska nonsense and just sweet angel Gwen sharing somewhat tragic lyrics.
When she finally ditched the band and went solo, Gwen Stefani exploded into a bunch of fashion madness. The music got even goofier and I was closing my ears off and just keeping my eyes open to catch glimpses of her through all of the bright neon colors. She has made several videos in which she is sexy, but I have to say the one where she rolls around on a bed with white sheets, just once again being soft, gentle, and beautiful: that one is my favorite. I have no clue what song it accompanies.
You know Gwen is a down chick with her marriage to Gavin Rossdale being tested time and time again. As of this writing it has survived paternity tests and Boy George accusations of homosexual flings. She’s just a girl who made herself into an entertainment icon and fashion diva, but I like to believe she’s just that same girl back in the early days of “No Doubt” and I like to imagine THAT girl is a fun, down to earth beauty. Or a spoiled princess, I don’t care, either fantasy works depending on the time of day.
