It is the evening of the Golden Globes, and everyone is there with what they think is the winning dress. Some are hits, and some are tragic misses.
Our best dressed of the evening, in my opinion, had to go to the beautiful and talented Jennifer Lopez. Presenting for Original Song in a Motion Picture as well as Original Score, she walked out with Alec Baldwin and approached the microphone. Alec began speaking by complimenting how absolutely beautiful and stunning she looked and asked if the audience agreed with him; the eruption of applause was a sure-fire sign of agreement.
Wearing a crisp and simple white spaghetti-strapped dress which flowed beautifully to the floor, she was radiating. To complete and complement the dress was a beautiful see-through chiffon type shawl with what looked like sparkling gemstones hanging down, giving it a somewhat cowgirl look while still maintaining a delicate presence. Covering only slightly in the front, it cascaded over her shoulders and down her back, gradually getting longer as it finished just slightly below her waistline. Her hair was up in just a simple ponytail style, yet it complemented the look so perfectly.
While some entertainers can look very overdone and over the top, Jennifer Lopez and her dress choice brought a simple, yet extraordinarily beautiful combination.
Now, when it comes to the Worst Dressed at these awards shows, there always tends to be someone who wears a dress or outfit that is bold or flashy and way over the top or strange. This year, however, the worst dressed, in my opinion, was not an over the top or outlandish outfit, but one that looked like she had picked it out of the racks at the Goodwill thrift store and thrown it together.
Tilda Swinton from “I am Love” came out to present awards for Best Actor in a Mini-Series and Best Actress in a Mini-Series. She arrived on stage in what can best be described as a men’s white dress shirt tucked into an off-white, almost yellowish crème A-line floor-length skirt. In all honesty, the outfit really looked as though it had been thrown together at the last minute.
For an evening of glamour and fancy dresses, this outfit made her look as though she was a member of the wait staff wearing a nice shirt and somewhat dirty apron getting ready to serve food and drinks or even as a busboy to clean the tables when it was all over. It was honestly one of the worst choices I have seen in a long time.
While previous years worst dressed have always actually given me a chuckle and made me think to myself, “how can they think that looks good?” this choice left me wondering if she was running late to the show and just grabbed something out of the hamper.
