With all the wonderful shows that produce so many memorable characters, it is very easy to focus on certain ones while completely ignoring others. So with the year coming to an end, why not give some love to some of the unsung heroes of Television, 2010 edition. Because lets be honest; our favorite shows would not be the same without them.
Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park – “Hawaii Five-O”
Everyone knows about the tremendous chemistry between “Hawaii Five-O’s” Scott Caan and Alex O’Loughlin, however lets not forget that there are actually four members to the team. Daniel Dae Kim (Chin Ho Kelly) and Grace Park (Kono) also share quite a chemistry together, which makes it easier to believe that they are playing cousins. They also know how to handle an action scene with ease, and it is always a thrill to watch. Not to mention they both look really good doing it.
Rico Rodriguez – “Modern Family”
If I had another Holiday wish, it would be to have Rico Rodriguez (Manny) on the list of award nominees along with his fellow “Modern Family”cast members. Rodriguez has killer comic timing, and can hold his own with any of the adults on the show. That is no easy feat given the talent level on “Modern Family”, which will hopefully be the beginning of a long career.
Kunal Nayyar – “The Big Bang Theory”
Jim Parsons may get a lot of the good lines in the wonderful ensemble comedy “The Big Bang Theory”, but lets not forget one other that provides many of the knee slapping moments, namely Raj, played to perfection by Kunal Nayyar. Whether wanting to dress up as a female super hero or even without saying a word (especially in the presence of a beautiful woman) Raj is hilarious, and often has me rolling on the floor until I can catch my breath.
Amber Riley – “Glee”
The main complaint I always hear about “Glee” is that certain characters get more attention than others. While I don’t always agree, even I would have to admit that the show needs to give a little more love to the completely underused and under-appreciated Amber Riley (Mercedes.) We know she has the voice, there’s no doubt about that, but it would be nice to see Riley get a story that proves she is the triple threat we all know she can be.
John Walsh – “America’s Most Wanted”
The show may not be a ratings blockbuster, and it might still be on only as a service, but what a commendable service AMW and its host John Walsh are. This year’s episodes, which included several that focused on human trafficking, reminded me that evil still exists in this world, and really makes me appreciate the time and effort it must take Walsh and his team (not to mention the numerous law enforcement) to bring these people to justice.
