Ted Williams Rehab Drama Explained; “A Very Rushed Decision,” He Says

After his overnight, Youtube-video-fueled rise from homeless man to famous voice talent last month, Ted Williams got in a public altercation with his daughter that resulted in his arrest. Then Ted Williams went to rehab to resolve his alcoholism, but exited early. And, finally, he began sharing his “golden voice” earnings with a former homeless friend of his. It has been a fast and confusing ride for everyone. This morning on The Early Show, though, Ted Williams explained some of the confusing details of his recent actions:

He explained that he entered rehab faster than he needed to, and that it was a “very rushed decision.” Everything was moving too fast for him – the career changes, the money, the media attention, and the reunions with family members – and he felt out of control. After a brief hiatus from the limelight, though, Ted Williams now feels ready to proceed with his career, and he is grateful that he has money to share with his friends and family. Although I cannot remember what show it was on, I remember Ted Williams appearing in an interview the week after he became famous and seeming to express some doubts about his abilities to beat alcoholism. While the public became convinced of his ability to succeed overnight, it seems that it has taken Williams some extra time (and a little rehab) to make the mental leap from homeless man to famous voice talent.

When he entered rehab, it seemed like the ride was over for Ted Williams. Now, though, with a little less media attention shining on him, he might be in a position to make things work.
