The “Survivor: Redemption Island” episode 4 recap comes from the March 9 episode. In the last episode, the Zapatera tribe had thrown the immunity challenge in order to try and vote out Russell. They lied about doing it, but succeeded in sending Russell to redemption island at the episode 3 tribal council. It was a bold move, especially when several of them lied to host Jeff Probst at the end of the episode about throwing the challenge.
Survivor: Redemption Island Episode Four; Redemption Island Duo
Russell joined Matt at redemption island, and he was clearly not happy about it. He figured out far too late that there were people telling lies back at his camp, and now it has set up an interesting duel between Matt and Russell. Matt actually seemed excited to face Russell, but they both had the skills necessary to win the duel later in the episode.
Survivor: Redemption Island Episode Four Camp Life
The Ometepe tribe life was quite down, especially with Phillip walking around with his “parts” hanging out through an old pair of underwear. He seemed frustrated when he talked to the cameras on his own, but it was pretty clear he was working himself out of the good graces of everyone.
Zapatera revealed that Krista and Stephanie were now on their own after losing Russell from the tribe. It appeared to be a definite six against two in the tribe now, with Ralph and Steve conspiring against them pretty quickly. Ralph then revealed to his alliance of six that he already had the hidden immunity idol from the camp, and most of them seemed pretty excited about it.
Survivor: Redemption Island Episode Four Duel
Phillip and Kristina volunteered to go to the duel for the Ometepe tribe and nobody objected, and on the other side it was Ralph and Sarita that decided that they would go. It seemed that the allure had worn off, because they simply stepped up and went without objections from anyone else.
The Russell vs. Matt duel consisted of the two contestants stacking blocks on a bridge in a way that they could fall like dominoes one after another. It was a challenge about patience and endurance, as the tricky part was to get the blocks set up correctly and on the bridge that were raised up and down on the course. It was also difficult to get around ropes connected to the course, that if touched, would cause the bridges to sway and knock down their dominoes.
Matt was the first one to get his blocks set up and he gave it a try, but his line of blocks fell short. It means he had to go back and fix things while Russell gave his a try. He also fell short, meaning that he had to go back and reset his blocks as well. That was the opening that Matt needed for a second shot and it was all he needed to send Russell home. Before he left though, he told the two people watching from the other tribe that his tribe had indeed thrown the challenge, giving some good insight.
While the duel was taking place, Rob concocted a plan to get everyone out of camp so he could look for the new hidden immunity idol. It worked, and he found the idol in about 15 minutes of time.
Survivor: Redemption Island Episode Four Immunity Challenge
The fourth immunity challenge involved a challenge sponsored by Craftsman Tools. Each stage had to do with a different tool, with the winner getting a BBQ supplied by Sears. The challenge began with a box that had to be opened with a crowbar to reveal a shovel, which was then used to dig up an ax. That progressed all the way to the end, with a new tribe member competing at each stage.
It was a long challenge, allowing everyone to really participate in it. One section that involved sawing through boards took the longest amount of time. In the end it was Zapatera once again won the challenge, and with it a really nice reward. The BBQ set was supplied with quite a bit of fresh food for the tribe, making this a challenge that was well worth winning. To put it bluntly, they were given a feast.
Things were not very pleasant back at the Ometepe tribe, especially with Phillip trying to give everyone a pep-talk after the loss. That speech started turning people even more against him, but Kristina was also exuding odd behavior that had people thinking badly of her. When she started talking about the idol, Rob started thinking it was time to send her home.
Survivor: Redemption Island Episode Four Tribal Council
The latest tribal council allowed Kristina and Phillip to attack each other again, both trying to gain votes in order to stay in the tribe. Meanwhile the other five just looked on, most likely having already decided how they were going to split their votes to make sure either Kristina or Phillip went home.
Phillip received three votes, but it was Kristina that received four votes, making her the next person voted out. She will now join Matt at redemption island (in the rain) and face off against him in the next episode to stay on the show.
