The “Survivor: Redemption Island” episode 3 recap comes from the March 2 presentation. In the second episode it was the Ometepe Tribe that lost once again, and it was Matt Elrod that was voted out at tribal council. He was sent to redemption island at the end of the episode to join Francesca Hogi, meaning that the two will face-off in a challenge to remain on this season in the next episode.
Survivor: Redemption Island Episode Three; Redemption Island Duo
Matt and Francesca met up on redemption island at the beginning of the episode, and it showed just how surprised he was to have been voted out at tribal council. They already knew that they would be facing off in a duel shortly, and that seemed to make it tense right away.
Survivor: Redemption Island Episode Three Camp Life
Rob was quite pleased with himself back at camp, congratulating Phillip and Grant on pulling a great swindle at the tribal council that got Kristina to use her individual immunity idol and a strong player (Matt) sent packing. His main worry now was that he had to assure Andrea (Matt’s friend) that she wasn’t being targeted.
Russell has his tribe begin to turn against him, many of them feeling he wasn’t doing anything in camp, and was a bad person to keep around. They even talked about throwing the challenge to get him out of the competition.
Survivor: Redemption Island Episode Three Duel
The two people at redemption island found out that they would have to face off in a challenge, and then back at camp there was a random draw to decide two people from each tribe that would get to go watch the duel take place. Steve, Dave, Ashley, and Andrea were the four that got to go watch it take place in the duel arena.
The contest involved using sticks and rope to create a long pole that could reach keys at the far end of a course. The object was to retrieve those keys and release their locks. First person done would win the right to stay on redemption island, and the loser would be gone for good.
This one was a meticulous challenge that took a while for them to get their sticks put together and strong enough to extend them out on the course. Francesca took a big lead early, getting two of her three keys before Matt even had one key. She had the third key on her stick when it broke, and that gave Matt a chance to start a comeback. He caught up, and they went after their third key at the same time. He ended up getting to it first, unlocking the locks, and winning the first redemption island duel.
Survivor: Redemption Island Episode Three Immunity Challenge
The third “Redemption Island” immunity challenge involved three members being strapped to a large wheel while three others pin the wheel. Those in the water were trying to collect water in their mouths to fill a vial, and once it was full, the tribe could advance to a puzzle to try and win immunity. The winning tribe was going to get a set of luxury items including pillows, a tarp, and several other items. The six person alliance of Zapatera decided to throw the challenge, which was pretty sad and short-sighted.
The Ometepe had a pretty easy time winning this challenge, especially with people from Zapatera trying to show that they knew how to quit. When Russell talked to the camera he surmised that they probably threw the challenge, and it should have been just as obvious to the other tribe. Rob was the one who finished the puzzle to help Ometepe win, and that must have clouded his ability to see what was going on. He also found the clue for the hidden immunity idol, allowing him a head start to look for it.
Survivor: Redemption Island Episode Three Tribal Council
At the “Survivor: Redemption Island” episode three tribal council many of the Zapatera tribe members lied about throwing the challenge, and took offense when they were called on it. Steve was the ring-leader of the lies, which didn’t make a whole lot of sense to do in front of five people he had thrown the challenge with. That lie could come back to bite him later in the season.
When the votes were counted, it was split up on purpose, with Russell, Ralph, and Stephanie all receiving three votes each. They did a re-vote with those three not voting the second time, and it led to Russell being voted out of the game. He now heads to redemption island to join Matt and compete with him in a duel in the next episode.
