The final five players returned to camp after voting out Jane during the last episode. Fabio felt vulnerable because of the tight alliance between Sash, Holly and Chase and knew he had to win immunity again. Fabio told Dan that they should vote Holly out next because she was a threat. Sash told Fabio that he wanted to go to the final three with him and Chase but also told Holly that he wanted to go to the end with her. Later Sash and Chase said that they wanted to vote Fabio out next.
The immunity challenge consisted of three questions about Nicaragua. The survivors had to correctly pick the right answer out of two given, untie a bag of puzzle pieces connected to that question and run back to their block to release their puzzle pieces from the bag. If they picked the wrong answer the puzzle pieces would be black and they had to go back to get the correct bag. Once they got all three bags of correct puzzle pieces they had to do the puzzle; which was the Survivor: Nicaragua logo. Sash, Holly and Chase got all the correct answers quickly and were trying to do their puzzles. Dan was really far behind and Jeff Probst didn’t even have any commentary about him. Fabio got the second question wrong and had to run back to get the correct puzzle pieces. One of Chase’s puzzle pieces fell underneath his block and he didn’t see that it had fallen. Sash seemed to be getting his puzzle almost finished but Fabio raced ahead and finished his first and won immunity for the second time in a row.
Back at camp Fabio was happy that he had immunity. He said that his plan was to play under the radar and then at the end step up his game. Having won two crucial immunities in a row, Fabio’s plan seemed to be working. Fabio talked to Chase about voting out Holly instead of Dan because she seemed more of a threat of getting jury votes than Dan. Then Fabio went to Dan to try to convince Sash to vote with them to oust Holly. Dan told Sash that he was less of a threat because he already had money while Holly was from a small town and would get more jury votes. Fabio then told Sash alone that they should vote out Holly and then Chase. Sash said that Fabio brought up some good points.
At tribal council Dan tried to plead his case that Holly was more of threat than him. But in the end Dan was voted out with four out of the five votes cast against him.
After tribal council the final four congratulated each other. But Fabio still felt on the outs with the tight alliance of Chase, Sash and Holly and when he asked Sash about going to the final three with him and Chase, Sash assured him that the final three would include him. But later Chase and Sash conferred that Fabio was the next to go. Holly said that their plan would be shaken up and they would have to turn on their own though if Fabio won immunity again.
The next morning the four paid their respects to the other survivors voted out.
At the last immunity challenge, the survivors had to stack and balance rough metal “coins” on the end of sword, the last person standing with a stack would win immunity. Probst called out which size coin to put on the sword and the survivors would have 5 seconds to balance the coin and remove their hands. Holly’s stack fell first. Then Chase’s. So it was down between Sash and Fabio. Fabio’s stack looked very precarious and early on it looked like it was going to fall over. Sash’s looked very even and strong. But Sash’s stack wobbled and fell after three more coins and Fabio won his third and most important immunity in a row.
Headed back to camp Fabio was visibly happy that he won immunity. He said that now he was happy to see the others scramble around. Sash tried to see what Fabio was thinking by saying that Holly must be nervous. But Fabio said he wasn’t sure how he was going to vote. Then Sash said that Fabio was his best friend. Later Fabio told Chase that Fabio wanted him out so Chase confirmed to Fabio that Sash wanted to vote Fabio out. Holly also confirmed to Fabio that he would’ve been voted out if he hadn’t won immunity.
At the final tribal council Fabio called out Sash on his duplicity. Sash tried to defend himself by saying that he had to make a lot of different alliances but believed he would have taken Fabio to the end but since Fabio won immunity Sash didn’t have to make that choice. In the end Holly was voted out and the last member of the jury.
The final three returned from tribal council. Fabio was happy because of how he exposed Chase and Sash to the jury. Sash wasn’t worried though because he still thought that he played the best strategic game and that would count towards jury votes.
The three awoke to a huge breakfast basket and chowed down. Chase however still was trying to play the game by trying to boost Fabio’s confidence to get him to be too overconfident. However Fabio said he would be going to the final tribal council “swinging.”
At the final tribal council all three gave statements. Chase said that he welcomed the questions so he could explain his behavior and perceived wishy-washiness. Fabio said his strategy was to play under the radar and then step it up at the end; which he did by winning three immunities in a row. Sash said he should be judged on his strategy of outwitting and outlasting and that he viewed his friendships made on the show as separate of how he played the game.
Chase’s loyalty and wishy-washiness were addressed. Chase said that he wasn’t necessarily being wishy-washy but rather strategically going with the numbers. Fabio was called out on not being strategic and winning the immunities too late. But Fabio said his strategy was to be friends with everyone and to step up to win the immunities at just the right time. Sash was called out as being a backstabber and creating alliances with everyone. Sash claimed it was his strategy that should be judged and that he was sorry for hurting people’s feelings. Chase said that if he won he would give the first $100,000 to the cancer foundation set up in memory of his late father and then help out his family with the rest. Then Fabio said he wanted to help his parents too and got quite emotional about it. Some members of the jury also visibly teared-up during Fabio’s emotional speech. The jury voted and Probst took the votes away to read them at the live show in Los Angeles. In LA a cleaned up Chase, Sash and Fabio were waiting to hear the votes. The final votes were between Chase and Fabio because Sash got no votes. In the end Fabio won with five votes to Chase’s four, making him at 21-years-old, the youngest winner of Survivor so far.
Congrats to Fabio and hopefully he can now go back to being Jud especially since he got a shorter haircut.
