Summary of first game (XXV)
Scott Norwood’s 47 yard field goal attempt missed to the right in the final seconds as the Giants defeated the Bills in the closest Super Bowl, by margin, in Super Bowl history. Ottis Anderson, with 102 yards and 1 TD, was named MVP.
Summary of second game (XXVI)
The Redskins jumped to a 24-0 lead and cruised to a 37-24 win over the Bills. Mark Rypien ripped the Buffalo defense for 292 yards passing and 2 TD’s and was named the MVP.
Summary of third game (XXVII)
A dynasty is born. Thanks to 9 Buffalo turnovers and behind Troy Aikman’s 273 yards and 4 TD’s, the Cowboys anihilated the Bills by the score of 52-17. The score would have been 59-17 if not for the always “heady” Leon Lett’s premature celebration as he came close to the end zone on a fumble recovery, allowing Dan Beebee to catch up to him just in time to knock the ball out the back of the end zone for a touchback.
Summary of fourth game (XXVIII)
The Bills looked to finally be set to win in thier fourth straight Super Bowl when they jumped out to a 13-6 lead at intermission but the Cowboys dashed the dreams of Upstate New York one last time, scoring the final 24 points to win 30-13. Emmitt Smith, having rushed for 132 yards and 2 TD’s, was named MVP.
My favorite Bills SB moment
I attended a Super Bowl party for XXVII that featured Ronnie Lott signing autographs. 6 years old at the time, I cried because I didn’t like the Cowboys (some things never change) and didn’t enjoy the final quarter when the Cowboys turned the game into a blowout.
