The Pittsburgh Steelers have found ways to overcome obstacles all season . First, the team was faced with negative decisions by their veteran quarterback during the offseason last summer. The Steelers organization overcame Ben Roethlisberger’s suspension to be contenders for the 2010 post season. The Steelers defeated the enemy of whether they would get a bye or be wild card contenders. They ended up with the number two seed in post-season play. The Steelers may have lost to Green Bay 31-25 in Superbowl XVL, but this Steelers fan of 35 years is proud to root for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers’ enemy in the first half of Superbowl XVL was two interceptions thrown by Ben Roethlisberger. However, the first half highlight was the connection between Roethlisberger and his two veteran receivers, Randle El and Hines Ward, during the late second quarter comeback. The Steelers went in at halftime down 21-10.
The momentum continued to swing for the Steelers in the second half. In fact, the Steelers came within three points until the turnover bug hit Pittsburgh again. This time, Rashard Mendenhall fumbled. Green Bay scored. The biggest downfall in this game for the Steelers was the fact that Green Bay capitalized on three turnovers by scoring 21 points. In other words, they scored touchdowns off of each turnover.
The Steelers still didn’t quit. However, they did run out of time. This fan is stunned the Steelers didn’t win their seventh NFL title last night, but not disappointed.
