My first experience with a Hobby Lobby began in Jacksonville, Florida. Before that, I never knew the company existed. Now, finding one in the cozy town of St. Augustine has made my life that much better. It has definitely confirmed for me that moving back to my hometown has been the smartest thing I’ve done in awhile. If you have never been to a Hobby Lobby before, I encourage you to immediately drop what you are doing (after you finish reading this article, of course) and hop on a plane, train, bus, car- any mode of transportation that will get you to the St. Augustine Hobby Lobby as fast as possible.
Upon first entering Hobby Lobby, one is immediately and pleasantly bombarded with a variety of furniture and home décor items for sale. Lovely pieces of art and functional décor that can warm any home. Further exploration leads to a warehouse sized store filled with every imaginable craft and hobby supply. One of the features I appreciate most is their huge sewing section complete with fabrics. St. Augustine currently does not have a JoAnn’s fabric store so this is the only place that you can purchase fabric without having to drive to Jacksonville or Palm Coast, each about a 30 minute drive, respectively.
Are you a scrap booker? A toy model maker? No problem, Hobby Lobby has sections specifically for these interests. Additionally, they have supplies for miniature doll house crafting, woodworking, polymer clay crafts, painting and so much more.
I also enjoy the seasonal items they have as well. A mix of both home décor holiday items and holiday themed craft supplies. Throughout the middle of the store are a wide array of home décor trinkets, mirrors, wall hangings and several other accents for adults and children.
Some people say that Hobby Lobby is expensive but I’ve been to other Hobby Lobby locations and I would say their prices are pretty consistent with Michaels and JoAnn’s.
I grew up in St. Augustine without a Hobby Lobby or any major craft store so I am very appreciative to have a Hobby Lobby here and not have to drive to Jacksonville when I get a crafty whim.
I would definitely recommend visiting the St. Augustine Hobby Lobby. They keep the store clean and well stocked and the location is right in the heart of St. Augustine’s commercial area off of US1.
Happy Hobby Lobby crafting!
