Snappy Tomato Pizza has a snappy name that catches the eye. On a whim we stopped at Snappy Tomato Pizza in Batavia, OH and ordered two pizzas to take home along with an order of cheesy bread sticks. They have a very nice looking parlor with large glass windows that look in on the dining area and the counter. From my seat in the car I could even watch them take out the pizza’s and box them. The kitchen was very clean as well as the entire restaurant.
There was a large poster on the window advertising a large pizza with 2 toppings for $8.99. A smaller poster boasted they also served Chicago style pizza for $11.99. We ordered one of each. Both pizzas had two different toppings on each side. There was no additional charge for that. The Chicago style pizza was only a medium for that price so it was not a good value. It cost $3.00 more and was a size smaller.
There was a wait, as each pizza was made fresh. We opted to buy our two liter drinks across the street at the convenient store. They were a better price than Snappy Tomato Pizza offered them. They asked $2.19 for each two liter. Across the street the pop was priced at three, two liter bottles, for $4.00.
We took the two pizzas home. The first one, the Chicago Style pizza had the same thickness of crust as the regular pizza. The end of the crust was larger and higher. It also had a different texture. The pizza was not a deep dish thickness as shown on the picture. It was also swimming in tomato sauce and the onion pieces were so large they were not cooked enough and were crunchy and tasted raw. The mushrooms and olives and other veggies were fine. The toppings were very skimpy. It had very little cheese if any. One side had mushrooms, onion and olives. The second side was a supreme with all veggies. I would not recommend it.
The second pizza, a regular pizza was delicious. The toppings were generous and it was loaded with cheese. On one side was pineapple and bacon and the second side was bacon and pepperoni. The crust was good, better than the Chicago style. It rates an A+
The cheese bread sticks were covered with so much cheese, they were like another pizza, not bread sticks. They were good, but not exactly what I expected. They were cut into squares, not sticks. I would order them again, but would rate them a B-.
We came in with a coupon from a book that was purchased through the local school in Batavia, but before presenting it we noticed it was not honored at this location. That was a big disappointment.
