Sarah Palin’s Camp Hits All Time Low, Says Image Not Gun Crosshairs but ‘Surveyor’s Symbol’ – Liar, Liar Pants on Fire

by tree pony

As Sarah Palin continues to show how low she will go with her violent right-wing political rhetoric, people in the Palin camp are now saying the offensive image Palin had on her campaign target map (that of gun crosshairs superimposed over Democratic constituencies’) didn’t feature gun crosshairs but ‘surveyors’ symbols’. With half the country saying Palin should accept some responsibility for the violent political rhetoric she’s used, after the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords yesterday and the murder of a federal judge and five others, the Palin camp has instead chosen to cower weakly in a corner…….. and lie.

When Sarah Palin first published her gun crosshairs image back in March, 2010, Gabrielle Giffords herself said “we’re on Sarah Palin’s targeted list, but the thing is the way she has it depicted has the crosshairs of a gun sight over our district, and the more people do that they’ve gotta realize there’s consequences to that action”. She wasn’t however the only person who came out against the map.

Even Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who is a Republican herself, spoke out at the time saying Sarah Palin’s crosshairs graphic was “purely despicable……..an abuse of the Second Amendment”, and under no circumstances should a target ever be put next to someone’s name.

Eerily too, after Elisabeth Hasselbeck had finished speaking, Whoopie Goldberg said “I want to say to those who are still inciting this (right-wing violent rhetoric), whatever comes down from this is on your hands”. How true Goldberg’s warning would end up being, we didn’t at the time know.

So that Sarah Palin’s camp now comes out trying to convince America the graphic showed ‘surveyors’ symbols’, either proves Palin is even more ignorant than many of us think she is, or she and her camp must think Americans are stupid.

It also seems Palin and her staff are conveniently forgetting, after she posted her crosshairs map on her Facebook page, she then told her followers “Don’t retreat…..RELOAD”, and later referred to the crosshairs as a ‘bullseye icon’.

But, on a radio talk show yesterday, Rebecca Mansour, a Palin staffer said “We never ever, ever intended it to be gun sights” (do these people actually believe the words coming out of their mouths? Because if they do, they’re doubly scary). The conservative radio host Tammy Bruce, who was interviewing Mansour, then said “It’s a surveyor’s symbol”.

Although the smart ones among us wonder at the sheer audacity and largesse of the lies now being told by the Palin camp, I think we’re also not surprised. If Sarah Palin has any sense at all, she’s already realized her crosshairs map and her violent right-wing rhetoric that is now being spoken about in conjunction with Gabrielle Giffords’ shooting, are the final nails in her political career’s coffin.

So, that she uses this tragedy to fabricate ‘surveyors’ symbols’ and lie, instead of simply saying she’s “sorry” shows the truly low-morals of the person we already knew she was.
