Sometimes, really simple things can be absolutely stunning. At a wedding reception, for instance, many people spend big money to make sure the bride and groom’s dining table, as well as the other tables, are impressive. Expensive tablecloths, pricey centerpieces, costly floral arrangements – it can all add up to a small fortune! But, in some cases, you can create an elegant look and spend very little money. As a matter of fact, if you create a floral runner for a table, complete with rose petals and candles, you’ll save quite a lot while creating a lovely arrangement suitable for any wedding.
If you look around the floral department of a large craft store you’ll find silk roses, rosebuds, and even bags of rose petals. Those bagged petals are perfect for creating a striking table runner that’s not really a table runner at all. And, when you add the candles to the arrangement, you’ll finish a beautiful décor piece no one will ever forget!
If you find loose, bagged rose petals a tad expensive for your budget consider purchasing cheap, fake roses at a dollar-theme store. You can cut the individual petals off of the roses and make the same wedding table arrangement. Pretty the petals up, if you want, by applying a little glitter paint to them.
If you prefer nothing but real flowers you can order roses, and pluck the petals off yourself or order nothing but the petals from the florist. Whatever type of rose petals you’re using simply start pouring them out on the table. For a long, rectangular table, create a curve that goes up, then down, then back up, and so on. The long, curvy arrangement is made by simply placing handsful of petals on the table as you follow the imaginary curve. The curves don’t have to be severe; they should be very subtle so that the petals are not in a straight, stiff row, yet not so active they’re nauseating.
Set votive candles or tea lights in glass containers from a dollar-theme store. There are various ways you can place the candles to enhance the look of the arranged rose petals. One is to go opposite of the curves. If a curve goes down, place the candle above it. If the curve goes up, place the candle below it.
There are different arrangements you can make according to the items you use and how you place them. Instead of rose petals you can use other petals on the table. Or, you can pour out decorative craft rocks instead. Or, arrange a garland in the curvy shape – garland now comes in many colors so that you don’t necessarily have to create a holiday appearance.
Instead of votive candles or tea lights you can also use taper candles on stands. Each different item you choose will create a slightly different table runner for the wedding. For a circular table just arrange the candles and petals in the center of the table. You’ll find the simplistic flower and candle set a striking décor arrangement for any wedding.
