The Riverwind Casino is located at 1544 W Hwy 9 in Norman, Oklahoma, which is the home of the Oklahoma Sooners (OU). This casino is a wonderful place to go for concerts and events. We recently attended a Chris Young concert here. The tickets were only $25/each which was a great deal. They are always offering various concerts.
The entertainment center was located inside of the casino. We had to pick up our tickets at the will call. They were very nice and the line was short. It did not take long at all to get our tickets. Once we got the tickets we decided to try out the machines before the concert.
We walked around looking at the huge amount of slot machines available to play on in this casino. They had a lot of penny machines, but they also had quarter and dollar machines. They had various ones to include Dick Van Dyke, Survivor, and even Monopoly. We played a few of the games, but we would win a little and then lose a little. We had fun though. They also had table games such as blackjack set up but I did not try my luck at these. They had a few machines scattered around where you could cash out your money and also ATM machines.
All over the casino you would see waitresses walking around in matching short cocktail dresses to get you drinks. This was nice because you could tell who was a waitress. They had ashtrays laying around for the smokers. It smelled like smoke just like any casino, but did not seem to be as overwhelming as other ones I have been to in the past.
They offered pop machines in several places that you could get a drink for free. They had cups and ice set up at these fountain drinks. They even had one inside of the concert area which I thought was really nice. You normally get free drinks in the casino, but not in the actual concert as well.
The Willows Buffet offered a seafood buffet on the weekends. They also had a sports bar. There was an area with several smaller food court style places to eat as well. We ended up grabbing some food at Burger King. It was very fast and good food. The prices seemed to be the same you would pay at any regular franchise of this restaurant.
Once we ended up at the concert, we realized that we had assigned seating. This was really nice since smaller venues do not offer this option most of the time. Someone immediately asked if we needed help and took us to our seats. They had a bar set up inside if you wanted an alcoholic drink. We were able to get a T-shirt at the table they had set up for this concert. There was no bathroom inside of here, but they appeared to be letting people step out to go to the ones right outside the door. We never had to leave to find out how this worked.
The concert itself was great! They had up signs that said no cameras, but they were letting everyone use them. They let everyone go stand right up in front of the stage to enjoy the show. A security guard was on each side of the stage and they were doing a good job controlling people. It was loud, but not so loud that you could not hear when you left. It honestly was perfect.
Chris Young is an amazing artist who is just getting his start. That being said, the show lasted about 1 hour and 20 minutes. It was more than enough time for him to do all of his songs, plus many more. It was plenty of time for the concert. He even came back out to do an encore song.
Overall I would give this casino a great review! We had no problems at all. The parking lot was well lit to find our car. We could always find a bathroom. The concert rocked! The only thing I would have changed was actually winning some money while I was there. I will be going here again!
