Risk: Factions is a PlayStation 3 game released on PlayStation Network by EA Games. There are eleven trophies to be earned in the title and this guide will show you how to get them all.
Be the first to get an objective in a game.
Objectives are random for each game played and are requirements such as “Take over 10 territories in one turn” or “Control two enemy capitals”. Press triangle to view objectives in-game. You need to be the first person to complete any objective during a game to get this trophy. It can be done online against other human players or offline against the computer.
Kill 100 human, cat, robot, yeti and zombie units.
This trophy isn’t hard but takes a little bit of play time. You can view your progress from the main menu’s War Room. Kills count both offline and online. If you are eliminated in an online game and leave the lobby your stats will still count. When you have 100 kills as any faction make sure you always play as them so you are only killing the factions you still need kills for. I got this trophy at around six hours of play time.
Complete the human, cat, robot, yeti and zombie campaigns.
All you need to do for this trophy is complete the entire single player campaign which is five levels. The computer isn’t hard to beat and you should make it through without losing much so this is one of the easiest trophies to get. I suggest going for this trophy first so you can learn the basics of how to play Risk. You may get quite a few other trophies during the campaign too, such as Defender.
Play 5 games on PlayStation Network.
You need to complete five games online for this trophy. If you’ve been eliminated you can quit the game and it will still count as a game played, however quitting before you’ve been eliminated will not.
Master & Commander
Win a 5 player ranked Command Room game on PlayStation Network.
When you search for a game to join make sure you select Command Room and join a game set for five players. Try to focus on the objectives and try going for ones that are close enough to you to easily get. To win you need to complete any three objectives and have control of your starting capital.
A good strategy for Risk is to attack one territory that is easy for you to take control of and end your turn. Do this for the first few turns so you’re earning a card during each turn and keeping your troop numbers up, instead of thinned out. Once you can turn in cards for at least 7 troops do so and try using the bonus troops you get to complete an objective. It’s a waste to turn cards in for only 2 extra troops even if your situation seems dire.
If any other players quit the game you will still get the trophy if you win. If all four other players quit, you will win by default.
Control 5 capitals.
This is easiest to do in World Conquest since you won’t win by completing objectives but will have to own the entire map. You can try for it online, but it’s easiest to do in a 5 player computer game. Just put your troops in positions to attack enemy capitals and you should have this trophy easily.
Defend a minimum of 5 attackers with 1 defender.
This can be done online, offline, with regular attacks (where you see the dice roll), or during fast battles. You need to have one troop in a territory and them defend at least five attackers. This trophy is more luck than anything, but if you can’t get it in regular play you can try playing against the computer and dwindling all your territories to only one troop left and hope they attack with at least five troops and you get lucky and defend them all. This was the first trophy I got and I got it accidentally during campaign mode without even trying.
Achieve 10 super overkills.
Super overkills happen when you roll three sixes and the defender doesn’t roll a six. Getting the bonus attack dice by completing objectives will help as you’ll be able to roll four dice each time you attack instead of three, increasing your odds.
Earn 10 stars and trade them for 30 troops.
This is another easy trophy and can be completed online or offline. You just need to last long enough to earn ten stars. You get stars by taking over at least one territory during your turn. Once you’ve reached at least 10 you’ll be able to trade them in at the start of your turn for 30 troops.
Win 10 ranked games on PlayStation Network.
This and Demon Child are the only two trophies in the game that are hard or take some time. You can get wins even if you’re not a great Risk player by just getting lucky, whether through turns or even people quitting the game for whatever reason. Follow the strategy on the Master & Commander trophy and keep playing online, and eventually you will earn this trophy.
5 Star General
Win a game on each map.
You need to win a game on each of the single player maps and the Classic Risk world map. If you complete the single player campaign all you’ll have left to do is win on the world map which you’re likely to get while trying for 10 ranked wins. Make sure to play five player games so you get the world map online (playing a two player game will get you the smallest map by default).
