Review of Red Square Restaurant at the Tropicana in Atlantic City, New Jersey

by tree pony

The Red Square in Tropicana’s Quarter in Atlantic City, New Jersey is one restaurant you will not want to miss if you enjoy fine foods and vodka. This sexy Russian inspired restaurant is certainly one of the best restaurants on the Atlantic City strip. Owned and operated by the famous, China Grill, expect Red Square to have an interesting menu.

My husband and I were looking for a romantic restaurant in Atlantic City when we came across Red Square on the Tropicana Casino website. Red Square’s menu was appealing and in our price range. The Vodka lounge area and ice bar was right up my alley.

We entered Red Square without reservations. It was a Monday night and business was slow. We decided to start off at the bar and then make it to the table for dinner. We wound up staying at the vodka ice bar the entire meal from start to finish. It was only when I walked to the rest room that I discovered we missed something big at Red Square. This romantic restaurant in Atlantic City has private tables that are curtained off and lit by chandeliers and candle light. Those tables are hidden very well and I only wish that I knew about them before I sat down for drinks. Those private tables at Red Square would make the most romantic dinner for any couple in Atlantic City.

Red Square’s ice bar is fully stocked with what seems to be every vodka ever created in the world. There are organic vodkas, Russian vodkas, Polish vodkas, American vodkas, Dutch vodkas, fruit vodkas, pepper vodkas and many more. They even have discontinued vodkas.

Take a shot in the Red Square Ice Locker (or Ice Vault) and you will be treated to coat and hat, the ladies can even wear fur if they wish. Members may store their vodkas in the ice locker for a fee.

The bartenders at Red Square are friendly and accommodating. They’ll treat you like Russian royalty and they really make a visit to the bar worth the trip even if you can only stay for one drink.

The food at Red Square is unbelievable. I just wish my pictures were better so you could see just how good the food really looked. We ordered the Siberian nachos with salmon and caviar and the salt and pepper fried calamari for appetizers. The Siberian nachos were five fried wontons piled with smoked salmon and wasabi cream topped with black sesame seeds. The calamari was simple, crunchy and delicious and came with a light sweet and sour sauce for dipping.

For dinner at Red Square we ordered a lobster fettuccine that was smothered in a creamy marscapone and black truffle sauce and had nice thick chunks of lobster. We also ordered the Salmon Kulebyaka which was amazing to say the least. It was a generous portion of salmon that was topped in puff pastry laying on a bed of mushroom risotto and puff pastry and then topped with a tiny quail egg and sturgeon caviar.

My husband and I enjoyed ourselves so much that we vowed to go back again.
