Cheddars Restaurant in Clarksville Indiana was the establishment of choice for dinner. Arriving early approx. 5:15 pm. Parking was beginning to fill up with hungry patrons for the Friday night we chose. We also noticed the tables were beginning to fill up. The young friendly hostess immediately greeted us and ask if a table would be ok, I ask for a booth, without further questions we were whisked off to a booth. The wait staff of Cheddars Restaurant appeared in record time, drink orders taken, while we poured over the large menus. Returning with our drinks we gave her our appetizer order of spinach dip and chips.
The menu is large with a wide variety of selections to tempt just about anyone wanting to eat at Cheddars Restaurant. While waiting on our spinach dip we were able to check out the décor of Cheddars Restaurant. A very warm Tuscany look with brick walls lots of plants with a touch of tropics with their very large ceiling fans. We did notice the clientele seemed to be families with small children. A family was seated behind us with the squirming kids, the mom tried to contain while the father stayed on the phone. We do know Restaurants have no control over this. We were distracted when the spinach dip arrived and surprised how large the portion was, we were also surprised at how hot with spice it was. I guess that is what Santa Fe means and that is what those little red flakes were. Two of us pushed the hot dip towards my other guest, who devoured the whole bowl.
Our entrees of Tilapia/salsa, sides of mashed potatoes, carrots one Caesar for 1.00 more arrived. Along with chicken tenders and fried shrimp sides of broccoli/ a house salad for a 1.00 extra.
The entrees were hot, we received everything we ordered, and drinks were refilled promptly by the wait staff. We received two huge portions of Tilapia with salsa on seasoned rice. The tilapia has a spice rub coating its exterior that wasn’t stated in the description, a hot spice we did not care for, the tilapia did not have any taste what so ever. The tilapia was flaky white and tender, sorry chef we think a lemon butter sauce would have been a better choice for this light flaky fish.
The chicken tenders were huge with a lot of chicken along with the fried shrimp. We did notice most families had ordered the chicken tenders so it must be a favorite.
The big question would we go back? Yes we would, all of us vote yes. We would order something other than the tilapia. Service was good, price good, portions were huge. Nice atmosphere.
