The Reagan family from “Blue Bloods” took on the Russian Mob in the episode entitled “Family Ties.” The Reagan’s have to investigate the murder of the son of a Russian Mob Boss that Frank Reagan had jailed years before. Also in Blue Bloods-Family Ties” Erin Reagan has to investigate charges of corruption of one of her families’ political allies. Thanks for reading my review of the “Blue Bloods-Family Ties” episode.
Ok folks here is a “Blue Bloods” spoiler alert for the “Family Ties” episode. Erin catches some grief when the corruption case is taken away from a college and given to her. The disgruntled college says she is just a “Political Tool” and shows disdain for her. Erin then has some self doubts after a confrontation with her grandfather who later apologizes and gives her roses.
The main things going on in “Blue Bloods-Family Ties” are the Russian Mob killing and the corruption case. But it is also revealed that the officer who got Jamie Reagan involved in the “Blue Templar” investigation has eaten her gun which is cop talk for committing suicide. Revealing that the lady was both still young and had been cited for bravery before leaving the police department and killing herself, it advanced the “Blue Templar” plot.
The viewers are left to conclude that she was probably murdered and the crime made to look like a suicide. But it isn’t a definite conclusion as it could be revealed later that she did kill herself possibly from what she found out in her own investigation.
That all adds up to my only issues with this “Blue Bloods” episode in that there was too much going on in “Family Ties.” It was hard to follow everything and I felt the corruption case was not covered enough. It was simply a way to bring in Bobby Cannavale playing the DA who is going to be Erin Reagan’s new love interest.
I still love “Blue Bloods” on CBS it was just that “Family Ties” was the first episode that I was a little disappointed in. I want to see more on the “Blue Templar” plot and am interested in where that is headed. I would be surprised if the two elder Reagan’s had not been in or ARE in the “Blue Templar.” That will give that plot some pop and I think that will be revealed. I don’t think the Reagan’s will have been involved in the killing of one of their family members but it may look that way for a while.
“Blue Bloods” has some room for improvement and I believe the show will do so. Tom Selleck and the rest of the cast are too good, to be on a bad show. I do wish the writers were a little better, but all in all it’s a good show.
