Rebecca Black’s song “Friday” has been making headlines and sadly it is not because people love the lyrics. According to the Sun, “a 13-year-old US high school pupil has become the latest internet sensation with her pop tune Friday, slammed by some as the worst song ever recorded.” Even though the song is considered a bad song, people are still listening to it. This is the same reason why people stop and look around at accident scenes even though they look horrible.
How the Song “Friday” Compares to the Top Three Songs on Billboard
According to Billboard, the top three songs are Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You” and Rihanna’s “Loud.” “Friday” does not stack up very well lyric-wise to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” The song by Lady Gaga has very deep lyrics. They tell a story about how we were all born one way and then evolve into the person we were always meant to be. The lyrics are very well-written and speak to many different generations of people.
“Friday” has very basic lyrics that are basically about how excited Rebecca is about it being Friday. The song has no real depth and the lyrics are not very good at all. Lady Gaga’s song wins hands-down when compared to this song.
“Forget You” by Cee Lo Green made people turn their heads because the song uses the “F word” in the title. The clean version of the song is about how a man is traveling down the street and sees a girl he used to date and gets angry so he says, “forget you.”
The song speaks to people who have had a bad breakup and are frustrated about it. The fact that the “F word” is used makes the song controversial, which many people like in song lyrics. In comparison, “Friday” is the worse song because its lyrics are not about something that people can truly feel or connect with. It is just about a day of the week; most people like Friday but they do not want to hear a song about it.
“Loud” is about how good she is in bed. The song mentions whips and chains and how they excite her. In comparison, both songs are pretty bad due to the lyrics. Rihanna is very popular but her song should not be played for children under 16 because of the subject matter of the lyrics.
“Friday” does not have any controversial lyrics in it and is a clean song. In a side by side comparison, “Friday” actually would win against “Loud.”
