Raffaele Bendandi (Faenza, October 17, 1893 – Faenza, November 3, 1979) was a pseudo Italian scientist. During the Fascist period was appointed Knight of the Order of the Crown of Italy. Later he was forbidden from Mussolini to publish forecasts on earthquakes, otherwise it would have been sent into exile. His theory is based on the fact that the Moon as the other planets of the solar system, including the Sun, are the cause of the movements of the earth’s crust. Through his studies he has been a ble to predict some earthquakes in Italy :
– Marsica earthquake of 13 January 1915 (Avezzano were destroyed by the earthquake and almost the entire territory of the Marsica. At Avezzano, a town of about 13,000 inhabitants, only 3,000 survived. The town of Sora, in Lazio, was destroyed, nearly 3,000 the recorded victims. A year later an earthquake of 5.2 in L’Aquila);
– Marche earthquake of January 2, 1924 (in this case he erred of two days, because it took place on January 4, 1924 in Senigallia);
– Earthquake in Friuli, 6 May 1976.
He tried to warn the authorities, but was treated like a crazy charlatan. Among his writings Bendandi had left some predictions for the future. But after his death, someone tried to burn his papers. But some fragments of these papers have been remained intact, and on these fragments have been written two dates that, seeing what happened in Japan, are perturbing: 2011 and 2012. The dates are not accompained by a geographic and in the notes written there is no name of the place where the earthquake will happen, but only years. This date gives creeps, above all thinking what happened to the Japan. Perhaps Bendandi had planned this terrible disaster. If so, Bendandi was right. The other date is 2012. Also here there is nothing about the geographical location of the earthquake, but is given only a year. The hope is that Bendandi has made a mistake and that what is written is casual. We hope that this won’t happen. It makes to think. Though within us all this can only make us think.
