Around the holidays, my family is very busy. Often times we choose to keep meals simple like doing a brunch between breakfast and lunch or having sandwiches and soup for dinner. We even like doing simple finger foods from time to time.
One of our all time favorite foods, no matter whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner is quiche. We all love quiche and my daughter makes a mean sausage version. However, with the hustle and bustle of the holidays, we don’t take the time to make it from scratch. That is when we turn to The Fillo Factory Assorted Quiche Fillo Cups.
These delicious mini hors d’oeuvres come in broccoli and cheddar quiche and spinach and Swiss quiche. There are 48 mini quiche in each 25-oz box.
One serving is 4 mini quiche. That means that there are 12 servings in each box or 6 servings in each of the two plastic tray containers held inside the box.
There are only 170 calories per serving. However, the bad news is that 110 of those calories come from fat.
There are 13 grams of fat in each serving. Of that amount, 6 grams comes from saturated fat. Luckily, there is no trans fat in The Fillo Factory Assorted Quiche Fillo Cups.
The product also contains 11 grams of carbohydrate, 1 gram of sugar, 200 milligrams of sodium and 65 milligrams of cholesterol. To the positive, The Fillo Factory Assorted Quiche Fillo Cups offer 4 grams of protein. They also average 16% of the daily-recommended amount of vitamin A, 5% of required vitamin C, 6% of the needed calcium and 4% of the required iron.
Ingredients include broccoli, cheddar cheese, clarified sweet butter, corn starch, filtered water, garlic, heavy cream, nutmeg, onions, palm oil, parmesan cheese, pasteurized skim milk, salt, soybean oil, spinach, Swiss cheese, unbleached unbromated enriched wheat flour, white pepper, and whole eggs. They also contain annotate, natural flavorings and soy lecithin. The flour is enriched with folic acid, iron, niacin, riboflavin and thiamine mononitrate.
The Fillo Factory Assorted Quiche Fillo Cups should be kept frozen until ready to bake. Bake in an oven preheated to 375 degrees Fahrenheit for roughly 15 minutes.
You can also bake the quiche in a convection oven at the same temperature for about 5 minutes. It is not advisable to try to microwave the quiche as it will become soggy and flat. Also avoid using a toaster oven since the results will be less than satisfactory.
For people with allergies, it is important to note that The Fillo Factory Assorted Quiche Fillo Cups do contain common allergens like egg, milk, soy and wheat. Additionally, the product is produced on equipment that also processes nut products.
This product comes from The Fillo Factory of Dumont, New Jersey. It is made strictly with premium, all natural ingredients. Here is my summary review:
Taste: 5 stars. The Fillo Factory Assorted Quiche Fillo Cups taste homemade. They are fresh, rich, creamy and tasty.
Freshness: 5 stars. As long as The Fillo Factory Assorted Quiche Fillo Cups are kept frozen until ready to bake they will keep for a long time. The company does; however, print a “use by” date on the top of each box so that consumers know when the product has passed its safe use time.
Variety: 4 stars. The Fillo Factory Assorted Quiche Fillo Cups currently come in only two flavors – – broccoli and cheddar quiche and spinach and Swiss quiche.
Reputation: 5 stars. The Fillo Factory enjoys a solid reputation for producing good products that are both tasty and easy to make.
Nutrition: 2 stars. Quiche does contain fat, carbohydrates and cholesterol in decent amounts that may put this dish out of the reach of individuals who are watching their intake of those items. It is also a bit high in sodium. On the flip side, it doesn’t contain much in the way of sugar. Used sparingly; however, and only for special occasions, a serving of The Fillo Factory Assorted Quiche Fillo Cups should do no lasting nutritional harm.
Packaging: 4 stars. The Fillo Factory Assorted Quiche Fillo Cups come in a white, gold, green, and brown box. The Fillo Factory logo is printed on a brown banner in the upper left-hand corner of the box. Green banners are strategically placed around the box to highlight important information about the product. A picture of the mini quiche is also prominently display.
I find the box a little busy from a marketing and advertising standpoint. It is difficult for the eye to determine where to focus its attention. However, the design is distinctive and should easily become recognizable to the multi-use consumer; making it easy to locate in the grocer’s frozen food section.
Ease of storage: 4 stars. The box measures a little over 12″ in height; 7″ in width and 2″ in depth. It is relatively flat in nature and fit well into our chest freezer. The quiche are placed in two plastic trays of 24 each. These can be stored alone, without the box, if desired. Just make certain to hang on to the cooking instructions.
Availability: 1 star. We found The Fillo Factory Assorted Quiche Fillo Cups at B.J.’s. It is unfortunately the only place where we have seen this product so far. Therefore, it might be difficult locating them locally.
Price: 3 stars. The price is around $12 for 48 mini quiche, which works out to $.25 per quiche. It is a reasonable price for the quality of this food product.
Product purchase probability: 5 stars. We love is product and would definitely use it again in the future.
Final rating: 3.8 stars. These fillets are good but the fat and cholesterol content is bothersome, as is the difficulty in finding the product and its high price tag.
