My husband is diabetic. That means he is supposed to follow a strict diet regimen. Obviously, I can’t follow him around 24-hours-a-day to make sure that he does. However, I do pay attention to his glucose numbers so I can know when he is off balance.
Every once in a while, he will indulge in a sweet treat if his numbers are stable. His favorite is vanilla ice cream with Hershey’s Genuine Chocolate Flavored Syrup on top.
However, unlike me, he won’t reach for Hershey’s Sugar Free alternative. He’ll only settle for the real thing.
I remember that as a child I loved Hershey’s Genuine Chocolate Flavored Syrup too. Today, I rarely use it, opting for the sugar free option instead. However, the taste of this wonderful chocolate syrup remains as delicious as ever. There really isn’t another product on the market that can beat it for its simple, wholesome taste.
Hershey’s Genuine Chocolate Flavored Syrup comes in a can as well as a 24-oz squeeze bottle, which is the way my husband buys it. There are about 17 servings inside each bottle. A serving size equals around 2 Tbsp.
Each serving contains 100 calories, none of which come from fat. There are; however, 24 grams of carbohydrate in each serving along with 20 grams of sugar and 15 milligrams of sodium.
To the good side, Hershey’s Genuine Chocolate Flavored Syrup does provide 1 gram of protein and 1 gram of fiber. It doesn’t; however, offer any significant vitamin source.
Ingredients include cocoa, high fructose corn syrup, regular corn syrup, sugar, vanilla and water. It also contains mono and diglycerides, polysorbate, potassium sorbate and xanthan gum.
Hershey’s Genuine Chocolate Flavored Syrup can be used to flavor milk, malts or shakes. It is good on top of ice cream too, which is usually the way the syrup is used. It can also be made to flavor hot chocolate or coffee; accent cakes and pies or to add chocolate swirls to other desserts.
