Advent is now here and soon it will be Christmas. Faith seems to fit very well with the season of advent and Christmas. Mother Teresa reminds us to open out hearts so they can be filled with only Jesus. This reminds me of the Mary as she was preparing for the birth of Jesus. How slowly Jesus was developing in her body so that he could be born for the world.
May we prepare for Jesus being more alive in our daily life. We need to look internally and see what we may need to change, throw away, or accept so that on Christmas we can truly sing Jesus Christ is born today Alleluia!
December 7th- As a deeply in love wife has an undivided love for her husband; I have the same love for Jesus.
What a wonderful love she had for Jesus. Even when she had difficult times she seemed to keep that love and commitment. How can we keep our love for Jesus growing?
December 8th ‘” Jesus is my life.
This is a wonderful quote to reflect on. Maybe even a mantra for today.
December 9th- Jesus is my all in all.
Mother Teresa may be telling us that Jesus is in her every breathe. In every part of her being and life. If we believe that, how will that affect the way we live?
December 10th- Jesus is my everything.
This could be another very good mantra for today.
December 11th- I am a pencil in the hand of the God who is sending a love letter to the world.
What freedom and surrender that takes to have faith in God. To use is as He wishes. This advent might be a good time for us to strive to have this faith.
December 12th- Jesus is my only love.
This is what our soul wants to say. The very deepest part of ourselves. If we look honestly within I think we may realize our actions don’t reflect what our heart and soul are saying. How can we listen more to our deepest self this month?
December 13th- I was expecting to be free, but God has His own plans.
How many times have we made what we thought were great plans only to realize that God had something totally different in mind? Sometimes I laugh at myself when I realize this.
December 14th- By blood I am Albanian. My citizenship is Indian. I am a Catholic nun. As to my calling I belong to the world.
Mother Teresa calls us to look beyond our limited boundaries and realize that we are part of the world.
December 15th- As to my heart, I belong entirely to Jesus.
Who or what do our hearts belong to? Our familes? Our job? Our ministries? I believe we can’t love deeply the people in those areas unless out hearts belong to Jesus. Perhaps today we can spiritually give our heart to him.
December 16th- We are all pencils in the hand of God.
We are reminded that this commitment isn’t just for those in religious life, but all of us. If we use are creativity we can see ourselves in the hand of God. What a wonderful image that is.
December 17th- Let us more and more insist in raising funds of kindness, on understanding, of peace.
We hear a lot about raising funds for programs (which is needed), but we are urged to raise important funds of love and kindness. How can we do that today?
December 18th- Money will come if we seek first the Kingdom of God ‘” the rest will be given.
Today why don’t we meditate on what the kingdom of God is and how we seek it?
December 19th-Little things are in deed little, but to be faithful in little things is a great thing.
We may just give someone a smile to let them know we understand. To us it may seem insignificant, but to that person it may have been just what they needed.
December 20th- We don’t know in what way God is appearing to a soul and what God is drawing that soul to, therefore, who are we to condemn anybody?
Sometimes it is easy for us to condemn someone who seems to be behaving in a manner t going against our beliefs or values. I think Mother Teresa is asking us to understand perhaps this person is going through a very painful time and this is just one-step on the road to growing in faith or healing in some way.
December 21st- Holiness consists of accepting and following the will of God.
How hard that can be for us. Perhaps we applied for a job that we desperately wanted, only to find out they hired someone with far less experience. How we accept those situations like that tells a lot about our faith. God may have a far different plan for us.
December 22nd- I do this because I believe I am doing this for Jesus.
When we do our ministries or care for our families are we are doing it for Jesus? This would be great reflection on today and see if that might be something that we need to focus on.
December 23rd- I am sure that this is His work. I am very sure.
How do we know of the work we are doing is His work? I believe if it is helping someone in some way, treating others with respect and doing the job with as much compassion as we can, that we can be reasonably sure we are doing His work.
December 24th- Our vocation is to belong to Jesus with the conviction that nothing and nobody can separate us from the love of God.
What a comforting thought, that God loves us that much. No distractions from that love.
December 25th- Let us pray that we shall be able to welcome Jesus at Christmas not in cold manger of our heart, but in a heart full of love and humility.
How will we welcome Jesus today. This holy day. If we have done our preparation during advent Jesus will truly have a very warm heart to be born in.
