Phantasmat is a new hidden object game from Codeminion. I personally really enjoyed it and found it very creepy, especially compared to other similar games. The game offers three different difficulty levels, so you can enjoy it even if you find puzzles frustrating. You can also choose to complete “Match 3” puzzles instead of hidden object searches.
Begin the game and watch the opening sequence of your character driving down a dark, stormy road. When you go to check the map, a series of events occurs that causes you to crash. When you awaken, you’re standing behind your car.
Click on the path leading to the old shack. You must turn off an electricity box located on a pole on the right side of the screen. To do this, you need a wrench from your trunk. Head to your trunk. You realize you need your keys. Go back to the screen where you are standing behind your car and you will now notice the bottom left of the screen is glowing. Click the glowing area, and complete the hidden object search. You will be rewarded with your keys.
Use the keys to open your trunk and get the wrench. Return to the power box on the pole and use the wrench on all four bolts to open it.
Click the inside of the box to activate the puzzle. You will need to turn each knob until it stops glowing. This puzzle is fairly easy and only requires a few clicks.
Once the electricity is off, go down the path to the old shack. Here you will run into a girl who tells you to go check into her hotel. She will tell you which turns to take down the forest maze.
When you start down the forest maze, turn right, then straight once, then right, then left, then right. You will now see the hotel.
Proceed to the hotel gate. Click on the poster on the gate and complete the hidden search puzzle. You will be rewarded with a notepad. (Phantasmat walkthrough continues on next page)
Proceed to the front of the hotel. Try to enter the hotel’s door. It is locked, and no one answers when you knock. The doorbell will not ring, and the manual bell at the top of the door does not have a chain. Back off the porch and the left side of the porch will begin to glow. Click on the glowing area and search the porch. You will find a boat hook, which you can use to ring the metal bell at the top of the front door.
Enter the lobby and talk to the hotel owner. Try to use the phone, and you will see it is out of order. Inspect all areas of the lobby, then proceed downstairs to the basement corridor.
In the basement corridor, you will notice a door with seven locks. Proceed into the basement and you will meet the girl again. She asks you to help with her generator. Search the glowing pile to the right of the generator room door. Here you will find a fuse.
Enter the generator room and pull the red lever on the generator. A fuse will blow, and you will need to replace it with the fuse you just found.
Inspect all the parts of the generator. You will realize you need duct tape and something to place on the scale.
Go back to your car. Search the pile on the bottom left of the screen, that you searched in the beginning of the game. You will find duct tape.
Go back to the old shack, and search inside. You will find two measuring bottles.
Head back towards the hotel. Instead of entering the hotel, turn right onto the path to the cliff. Search the pile of junk on the cliff for a large measuring bottle.
Generator Scale Puzzle
Return to the basement. Use the duct tape to repair the broken wires, and begin working on the scale puzzle. You will need to start with the largest mixing bottle filled, and the 5 and 3 bottles empty. Fill the 5 bottle, then use the 5 bottle to fill the 3 bottle. Dump the 3 bottle into the mixing bottle. Pour what is left in the 5 bottle into the 3 bottle. Refill the 5 bottle with the mixing bottle, then pour the 5 bottle into the 3 bottle. You will now have the right amount to place on the scale.
Place the bottle on the scale, then pull the red lever to turn on the generator.
Go back to the basement and talk to the girl.
Go back upstairs and talk to the hotel owner. He will tell you to use the phone.

Head to the hotel corridor and use the key to enter your room. An old lady will appear and ask you to join her for tea. Watch a cut scene, and when you awaken, search around your room. You will see a note on your bed asking you to meet the person on the cliff side. You will also find a hair pin in the drawer to the left of your bed.
Locked Door Puzzle
Try to leave the room. The door is locked. Turn around and your bathroom will now be glowing. Search the bathroom and you will acquire a screwdriver. Return to the door and use the screwdriver on both screws. Then use the hair pin to lift the tumbler to exit your room.
When in the hotel corridor, go forward to the kitchen corridor. Inspect the picture in the kitchen corridor, then go back to the porch of the hotel. Search the glowing area on the porch, where you will find a piano key.
Move backwards to the hotel gate, then move right to the cliff side. You will meet the girl, who gives you a warning, then runs off. The creepy hotel guy approaches you and tells you to ignore her.
Go back inside and go to the old lady’s room. Talk to her, then search the glowing area in the middle of the room. You will get a tea cup. Inspect the photos in the room, then head to the kitchen. Search the kitchen, and get the teapot.
Return to the old lady’s room and place the teapot and tea cup on her table.
Card Match Puzzle
This puzzle is simple enough. An image will appear in the teacup, and you have to find the card with the matching image.
When you are done, she will give you directions to find the girl on the path to town.
Go back to the old shack, then turn down the left-hand path to the forest maze. First go straight, then left, right, left, left right.
You will talk to the girl. She says you must walk down the dark road to experience the odd things happening in the town.
Turn left down the dark road. It doesn’t matter which paths you choose. You will eventually have another cutscene where you black out again.
When you awake, you will be in your bedroom. Search the bathroom, where you will get a box of matches.
You will experience another cutscene. When you walk out in the hall, there will be another cutscene. Move forward to the kitchen corridor. Click on the portrait at the end of the hall again. (Phantasmat walkthrough continues on next page)
Photo Differences Puzzle
When you click on the portrait, it will split into two portraits. This is basically a “find the differences” puzzle. Click on all the differences. There is a time limit to this puzzle, so move quickly.
When finished, search the kitchen again, where you will receive rust remover.
Go back to the old lady’s room, and search the glowing area. You will get another piano key.
Return to the hotel lobby, where you will speak with the girl.
Go down to the basement and search the pile in the middle of the room. You will get a hook. Go back up to the lobby, and click on the fish tank. Use the hook to retrieve the key from the fish tank.
Leave the hotel, and head to the hotel gate. Search the poster on the gate, where you will find another piano key.
Head back to the old shack. Search the old shack, and you will find a fuel canister. Leave the shack.
Take the left path at the old shack to head towards the town ruins. Investigate any points of interest along the way. When you get to main street, click on the payphone in the center of town. Use your rust remover to remove the smudge on the ad on the phone. It reads “If you want to learn a secret, the answer is hidden in numbers.” You will need to find a coin to use the phone.
Check out the front of the pet shop. You will see there is a combination lock on the front of the door.
Head next door to the bar, where you can search inside. You will receive a gear.
Next, enter the ruined house, where the girl will call you down to the basement.
You will see a diving suit hanging across a pool of water. I believe the combination is random, but pull the levers in the correct combination to move the suit to the dock.
I used this combo: Middle, Left, Right, Left, Middle.
Click on the water suit. It says you must find a gauntlet, faceplate, searchlight and boot to complete the suit.
Leave the basement, and enter the ruined room upstairs. Investigate any areas of interest, and click on the tape recorder on the bed. Listen to the tape. Notice a small metal box on the floor that requires a strange combination.
Click on the body/desk in the middle of the room, and search that area. You will get another gear.
Head back to main street. You will experience another blackout/cut scene.
Head to the school yard and search the glowing area. You will get a quarter. (Phantasmat walkthrough continues on next page)
Go back to the payphone, and insert the quarter into the phone. Dial out the word “Secret” using the numeric keys on the phone. A voice will come on the line and tell you the combination is 68632.
Head to the petshop and enter this combination into the padlock. Search the pile in the pet store, and get the shears.
Go back to the school and go inside. Use the shears on the vines blocking the classroom door. Enter the classroom.
Search the classroom and get the last gear.
Now return to the hotel, and take the path to the cliff. Search the pile on the cliff to get a hatchet.
Meet the girl in the basement. She tells you that you need to go across the lake to the cemetery.
You must use the elevator to go down to the pier. Enter the elevator and click on the picture of a gear. Click on the gear box to open it.
Place the gold gear in the top right of the box, the large bronze gear in the middle, and the sliver gear on the bottom right. The gears should now be turning.
While standing in the elevator, press down. Get out at the bottom, and proceed towards the boat. Use the hatchet to cut the rope tethering the boat, then get into the boat.
Move the rag in the boat. You will see four times written down. Open the fuel box and click the top panel. You will see four knobs you must adjust.
Boat Fuel Panel Puzzle
Leave the first knob in the 12 o’clock position. Turn the second to 4 o’clock, the third to 10 o’clock, and the last to 5 o’clock. Click on the gas cap to remove it, then use the fuel canister to fill the gas tank.
Click to the right side of the screen to begin travelling towards the graveyard. You will stop in front of the sunken church tower. Notice there is a heart-shaped lock holding the tower door closed. Continue to the graveyard.
Get out of the boat. As you explore the cemetery, you will notice glowing letters on gravestones. Click each set of glowing letters.
At the entrance to the cemetery, search the glowing tombstone on the bottom right of the screen, and get a chisel. Go right to the Mayor’s grave and you will meet the old lady. Click the glowing letters on the tombstone in the bottom right. Search the glowing area to the left of the old lady and get a piano key. Go back to the cemetery entrance, and go left this time. Collect any glowing letters, then click on the monument directly behind the bench. Use your matches to light the unlit candle, and collect additional glowing letters.
Click on the cross tombstone. You’ll notice you need a golden ball. Go to the entrance of the lodge, and inspect the fish statue. Use your chisel to break the statue, and retrieve the ball. Collect any glowing letters.
Return to the cross tombstone and place the golden ball in the hole. Collect the cross, then go back to the entrance to the lodge. Place the cross in the tombstone on the bottom right.
Enter the keeper’s lodge and search the glowing area, where you’ll find the final piano key. Inspect the piano keys. You should be missing a few notes.
Take another lap around the graveyard, from the keeper’s lodge to the mayor’s grave. You will see more glowing notes in various places.
Return to the piano and play the song. As you play the notes, the music sheet will glow or sizzle, depending on if you get the note right or not. If you miss a note, you must start over.
If you cannot read the music, mentally label the keys with numbers. Number 1 is the first white key that is located between two black keys. Once you locate the key and distinguish it as number 1, you can use this number pattern to figure out the notes.
Playing the song correctly will open a crypt in the floor. Go down into the crypt and click on the coffin.
There are different ways to solve this puzzle, but here is one path which will connect each wire.
Please note that I mapped this out the best I could, and it still may be a bit confusing. If I used the direction “left” but the wire points left and up, I simply used “left” to keep the pattern simple. Leave a comment if you cannot figure out what I mean, and I will respond promptly.
You will see a corner circuit-thing glowing, with four wires coming out from it. Start your path with the third wire down. From the beginning circle, go:

Once you have all circuit-things lit up, you will be standing facing the coffin again. Click the tape recorder and listen to the message.
Go back upstairs, and search the glowing box area in the keeper’s house for a crowbar.
Go back to the cemetery entrance and search the glowing area for a key. Head to the mayor’s grave and search to find a searchlight.
Head back to the hotel pier and talk to the girl. Go back upstairs to the hotel. I’m not sure if you have to, but you can go to the old lady’s room and speak with her again. Head out to the cliffside and look through the binoculars. You will notice a pattern of lights in the cemetery. Your character will write the pattern down in a notebook. This pattern will open the metal box in the ruined house.
Go back to town panorama and search the pet store again. You will find a faceplate here. Use your crowbar to open the shutter door on the cabinet inside the pet store, where you will get a key.
Next, search the bar for a boot.
Search the school yard for another key, and go inside to the classroom to find the gauntlet for the diving suit.
Go into the ruined room inside the ruined house. Search the desk, where you will find another key. Click on the metal box next to the bed, and enter the pattern written in the notebook. The valve will be inside, which is the last piece to the diving suit.
Go downstairs and place the searchlight, gauntlet, boot and faceplate on the diving suit.
Place the valve on the machine on the right side of the screen, There are several valves labeled different numbers. You need to get the pressure to 150, so turn 65, 55, and 30, then turn the machine on.
Click the sewer area to enter the suit and head inside the sewer. Click on the number pad between the two paths.
I’m not sure if the codes are randomized or not, so your passcode may not be the same as mine.
If they are different, the simplest way to find the right combination is to grab a pen and paper and do a quick process of elimination. (Phantasmat walkthrough continues on next page)
The first code requires 3 numbers. If you enter the correct number, the light under the number will turn green. Cycle through the numbers to figure out the code. Type in 111, 222, 333, etc. Write down which numbers turn green, and when you find all three, enter the correct code.
When you are at the sunken street, you need to search the glowing car area, where you will get a chess piece. You will also notice floating pieces of paper you need to collect.
Go inside the sunken manor and search again, where you will find another chess piece, and several more pieces of paper.
Click on the chess board. Click the fallen horse piece and set it in its place. Place the other chess pieces on the board.
This is another simple match game. Click two squares at a time to try to find matches. When you find all the matches, the board will open and you should press the button inside, which will open a hidden door.
Enter the hidden room, and click on any floating paper pieces. Click on the desk and grab the bottle of poison.
Head back out into the sunken street and across to the sunken church. Get the last of the paper pieces and click on the door of the church. You should have 15 pieces of paper.
Place all the paper pieces on the door and assemble the puzzle.
Enter the church and search the stained glass. Watch the cut scenes. Go back to the hotel, and go to the basement corridor. Click on the door with the 7 locks, and use your keys on each lock.
Search the bag near the picture for the hotel deed. Watch the cutscene. At the appropriate time, give the hotel owner the deed.
You will now have half of the heart key in your inventory.
Go back to the Mayor’s grave and talk to the old lady. Give her the poison. You will now have the other half to the heart lock.
Go back to the sunken church bell tower, and place both pieces of the heart key into the lock. Enter the tower. Talk to the girl. Search the dead body to find an engagement ring.
Pull the rope to ring the bell tower. A nest will drop. Click on the nest to find a lighter and a nail file. Use the lighter to light the unlit candle , and use the nail file to open the cabinet on the right side of the room. Grab the hammer from the cabinet.
Use the hammer to break the stained glass, then take the glass shard and cut the vines covering the window. Give the girl the engagement ring.
Leave the hotel, going down the forest road towards the highway, and watch the ending of the game.
