Yesterday the world of music entertainment celebrated their 53rd Grammy Awards. Music fans were glued to the Television set and Twitter the entire day.
Adam Grammybert was trending all day until it was announced that the Season 8 runner up Adam Lambert lost the Grammy to Bruno Mars.
Lady Gaga entrance on the red carpet as an egg was ridiculous and clever at the same time since writers have to report on that. If they don’t something would be missing in their reviews! How does she come up with this stuff?
Anyway the three and a half hour live television spectacle gave us many performance including Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Bob Dylan, Eminem, Rhianna, Arcade Fire, Muse just to name a few…
Lady Antebellum were the big winners of the night. They won Record of the Year, Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group Vocals, Best Country Song (Josh Kear, Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley) and Best Country Album.. To my surprise I thought their Grammy Performance was really short considering that they were the winners of the night. Anyway Kids if you get turned away from American Idol know this doesn’t mean the end of the world. Hillary Scott from Lady Antebellum auditioned and didn’t make it on American Idol. Look where she is now.
Twitter exploded after teen sensation Justin Bieber lost to the unknown Jazz singer Esperanza Spalding. Bieber voiced his disappointment but shook hands with the surprised winner. Bieber fans however weren’t as graceful and attacked her Wickipedia page with hate messages according to mtv.com
This wasn’t the only upset. Music fans were stunned when the independent band Arcade Fire took home Album of the Year. Lady Gaga and Katy Perry were nominated in the same category. Some bloggers however are confused how Arcade Fire could have won since they failed to bring home the Grammy for the best record in their own genre. Read here.
But on the other hand some artists were thrilled with that outcome. Jack Mooring, the brother of Leeland Mooring from the three time Grammy nominated Christian band Leeland tweeted: “Wow, I can’t help but be proud of the Grammy’s a little bit. An upright bass player beat Beiber, and Arcade Fire beat perry & gaga! #grammys
Kanye West opinion was split on those upsets. “Damn… I can’t find the words to explain how I feel about the best new artist award… Don’t wanna say the wrong thing” But when Arcade Fire won he said: “#ARCADEFIRE!”
Only at the Grammies I get introduced to all different style of music and I have to say that I truly enjoyed Bob Dylan, Mumford and Sons and the Avett Brother performance. That was truly a treat.
Mick Jagger rocked the Grammy with his tribute to Solomon Burke. I admired his Energy which came through in his performance “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love”. Many were also impressed with Barbara Streisand’s performance.
Will Smith seemed to be a proud Daddy after he saw his son Jaden Smith singing and dancing among side of Usher and Justin Bieber. Of course Usher always delivers the perfect performance.
Eminem appeared a bit nervous when he won the Grammy for best Rap album. He was nominated for ten Grammies. It looked to me that he was searching for his “Thank you speech memo” in his pocket.
The Aretha Franklin Tribute was stunning and Christina Aguilera knew the lyrics and proved that she has one of the best voices out there. Unfortunately she took a tumble by the end of the song. I am encouraged by Jennifer Hudson’s weight loss. Maybe I can do the same.
An absolute low light was probably Cee Lo, Gwyneth Paltrow and the Moppets. I didn’t know what that was to be honest with you. My advise to Gwyneth Paltrow is to stick with Vince Gill if she wants to be taken seriously.
I was surprised that I enjoyed Katy Perry’s and Lady Gaga performances. But just like others I can see the Madonna resemble in Lady Gaga and she has to be careful not to come across as she wants to imitate Madonna.
In the end the Grammies were fast moving and the three hours has gone by quickly. I truly enjoyed this year show. For a complete list on this years winner click here.
