If your looking for a unique gym, Pacific Edge Climbing Gym in Santa Cruz, California should be a priority on your list of gyms to visit. Pacific Edge is not just a rock climbing facility, although they are a world class climbing and training facility.
Pacific Edge Climbing Gym bills itself as the premier alternative health club experience in Santa Cruz, and it is truly an outstanding alternative health club! I’ve never experienced one like it. For those who are learning to climb, want to continue their training during the cold weather season, or just love to climb, Pacific Edge offers 14,000 square feet of state-of-the-art climbing terrain. They have 50 routes of climbing ranging in difficulty from 5.5 to 5.12 as well as four cracks (finger, hand, chimney and off-width), a huge lead cave, extensive bouldering and an indoor and outdoor climbing school. In addition to all of this, they offer weight training and excellent cardio facilities, an extensive yoga and pilates program, and even programs for kids.
The atmosphere is more of a family environment with people of all ages, rather than just singles preening around to try and pick up someone. Kids are offered special programs such as the Circus Yoga Camp or Rock Star Series for climbing. You can even have your child’s birthday here. What fun to let them boulder and climb away to their heart’s content!
Pacific Edge is a premier climbing gym. The climbing school classes are extensive and the instructors are highly knowledgeable. From safety and rescue classes to leading, anchor and technique classes, they do have it all. Members are all also free clinics in a large array of subjects including lead belaying, bouldering, climb injury, footwork, and even nutrition.
The staff at Pacific Edge Climbing Gym are really friendly and helpful, as well as their customers. More than once, I’ve seen customers helping other customers, including myself. You won’t find snobby, pretentious people here. It rarely seems to be crowded, and you can jump on a treadmill or stair climber quickly. I also love to watch the climbers while I’m on the treadmill, the view is perfect!
Membership costs at Pacific Edge Climbing Gym are reasonable. They offer trial memberships, day passes, and monthly memberships. Special deals are offered frequently. Pacific Edge Climbing Gym is located just a few blocks from the beach and just down the street from Seabright Brewery, perfect for a good work out followed by a refreshing cold beer. You can visit them at 104 Bronson Street off of Seabright Avenue in Santa Cruz, or for more information, see their website at www.pacificedgeclimbinggym.com.
